I do not see the official thread for it anywhere so I may as well start my own! We could use this thread to discuss our updates, our chances, decisions, and hopefully... housing options haha!

My app was done on December 14th. Can I expect a decision soon?! I am terrified.

And as for your chances… From what I have seen on this site (I spend a ridiculous amount of time looking over old transfer decisions) you have a good chance. I dont want to say excellent shot, but definitely reasonable. Your ACT is above average, while your HS GPA is a little below average… It would help to know what college you went to last semester ?

I went to Wayne State last semester, thanks.

I’m actually very surprised you were outright rejected at any point, you have great stats. I think with the inclusion of your first semester grades at CMU it will really boost your chances.

I’m hoping they start releasing the decisions soon after the 2/1 deadline.

With a 3.8 at Wayne State you have a really good shot :)

I’m still trying to understand it myself actually. lol I applied late the first time because of family issues so that might be it (or at least I hope so)

As far as releasing decisions UMICH does a wonderful job of being flipping crazy. Some people get theirs in two weeks, while others (like me the first time) have to wait 5 months.
For transfers a rep told me it is typically 6-8 weeks, I got my winter decision in about a month. On an interesting side note, a rep told me that the applications are NOT reviewed in the order that they are received. Which makes me wonder… What is it that makes some peoples applications priority?

If you are a REALLY good applicant and they really want you in ASAP, you will hear quickly.
If you are a REALLY bad applicant and they really don’t want you, you will hear quickly.
If you are anywhere in the middle, you are subject to god-knows-what time process.

Or I could be completely incorrect, which is the most likely idea.

Did you submit any instructor evaluations? They not required but I know a T.A. that will rate me like top 1%, but I’m not sure if it will help.

Could anyone do me a favor and chance me? I submitted my application last night and submitted my college transcripts today.

Any news on Fall 2012 transfer applicants?

If I remember correctly, lots of decisions started being released for Fall Transfers around the first week of Feb. Which would make right now a hair earlier than expected but from what this thread has shown a few people hear and there are hearing back a lot earlier than Feb.

My application officially processed on December 5th so initially I thought I would hear back sooner rather than later, but my transcripts would not officially appear on WA till Jan 12th and I don’t think they begin reviewing an application until it is fully complete.

Yeah, I really think the big waves start coming out next month. The people who get in before the deadline date of Feb 1st were most likely easy decisions for admissions to make taking account that people could still apply till the end of this month.

Once the deadline is here, the admissions office has their applicant pool essentially stagnant and can easily compare students without the fear of a new “better” candidate who is one click away from being another file on their desk. This is when the bulk of the decisions should come out.

As for equality for everyone? I’m not quite sure. I am very curious how major plays into all of this. Is this one admissions group making decisions for ALL transfer students? Or is this different sections of transfer admissions dedicated to their particular majors? And if it is just one group, do they consider each group of majors apart from the rest- i.e. A group of biology majors would not be competing for the same spots as a group of Political Science majors.

^Because I don’t think there is a way to tell how major plays a roll in admissions there is no real way to know when a decision will be arrived. If major plays no roll then the times should be fairly equal. But if major does play a roll and the admissions group focuses on one major at a time, those particular applicants will receive their decisions earlier than the ones in different majors.

Maybe i’m thinking waaaaaay too far into this, but i’ve always been curious in how admissions processes work.
