Great photo Thomas S! lol!

I just received my financial aid information, and after doing some calculations I’m not sure if am looking at it correctly. When I submitted my Planned Enrollment Form, I put 12 credits for fall and 12 for spring (I’m sure that will change, as I would like to graduate sometime soon). The budget shows a total of $36,288 for tuition alone.

Did tuition go up this coming year? Instead of $1454 per credit, it seems to be $1512. I know fees and other expenses are not part of that amount, as they’re itemized separately on the budget list. Mind you at this point, at least for some, a $58 difference wouldn’t make much difference.

Yes, tuition at GS goes up every year. Here is the what the per credit tuition (for 1-17 credits) has been for the past few years:

2009-10: $1,270
2010-11: $1,330
2011-12: $1,392
2012-13: $1,454

Thanks to6284!

Anybody get their UNI ID and email stuff processed yet? I was accepted about April 15th, sent in my deposit about two weeks ago, haven’t seen it yet.

Reccee, to find out what UNI you have, just type your name in the search box on [Columbia University in the City of New York](http://www.columbia.edu). If you have been assigned one, your name will appear under “people” on the right side of the page. Hope this helps!

Recee- they take a while to send out the UNI once you’re accepted, but it’s kind of a waiting game. Denbal87 is right, use that link to look your name up periodically and eventually it’ll pop up.

With tuition - yes, these days most schools are raising tuition annually. The best part is that because of the way the system works there’s a ratchet effect on college tuitions where the price can always go up but it won’t ever actually be reduced to reflect changes in the economy. When my grandmother went to nursing school it cost her 50 dollars a semester (maybe a year? I don’t remember). She almost had a heart attack when I told her what school costs now.

Also, I was using the conventional definition for “ratchet” I’m not talking urban dictionary ;)

Any idea how long that should take? I’m not concerned about the UNI, more concerned about an uncashed check with my personal information floating out there. I imagine they get a lot of mail, deposits, and all that this time of year, so I’m patient. Appreciate any inside info from those who did this last year.

@motame: so ratchet! haha!

@reccee: When I submitted my acceptance reply form, I did it through FedEx. I paid the extra money to make sure it went straight to admissions office, and not deal with any of the mail room nonsense. They received it on Apr 25, my UNI popped up shortly the week after when I did a search on the directory, and the deposit check was just cashed yesterday.

Ha! I was accepted a year ago, sent in my fall 2013 acceptance in February and still have not received a UNI or my course credit eval! hmm…my $500 took a couple of months to get cashed. It feels like a bit of a crapshoot in terms of how things get processed…

Welp, I’m gonna go crazy with anticipation for the next few days … I’ve missed a call from an unknown number (no message) each of the past two days, and I discovered immediately after today’s call that all of a sudden I can log into the financial aid page.

Highly caffeinated and jumping at every minor notification that elicits a sound from my phone.

(obviously for all I know it’s a telemarketer that has been calling, but the financial aid thing is promising on its own)

Did anyone else’s page get deleted in storybook, and in turn have to register again?

Is anyone here Regular Decision or International ? Have you received a decision yet ?

I feel like one of those squeeky Alien toys from Toy Story waiting for the THE CLAW to pick me !!!

Argh! This is torture ! I’ve been accepted to the University of Colorado Boulder to study Astronomy, but really want to study the one at Columbia… they just told me it’s 3 MORE WEEKS OF WAITING !!!

@SpaceNerd : When did you apply for Columbia? I also applied for CU regular decision. I called General Studies today, and I realize that I have to wait until the end of May at least.

Moreover, I thought I could get a generous finanical aid package as I completed my CSS profile forms on College Board website. However, this is only for Columbia College and Engeenering school so that I have to pay at least 30k annually even if I live in NYC. Sigh… So, I decide to enroll at NYU. Even if tuition is much similar to Columbia, they will offer satisfying financial packages to students whose incomes are low so that I may pay half amount of tuition, comparing to Columbia GS.

Best of Luck

hjw52340: I applied Part 1 on March 26, and submittd Part 2 on APRIL 24th.

I also took the GSAE, and have 2 degrees (Bachelor’s of Fine Arts + Master’s of Arts), and have set up my own company. Hopefully, that’s enough to get in ???

Has anyone gotten their UNI yet? AND, anyone heard back from housing?

Posting from my phone at work so I must be brief… but my wife tells me the FedEx package came today and is waiting for me at home! Looks like I am indeed in! No idea what the financials are gonna look like but for now I will just enjoy this wonderful news. Thanks everyone for all of the info… This thread has been a great resource for me.

FROYO!!! Congrats, friend!
