Smileasec:

Sorry to keep pestering you lol but I just wanted to ask, will Rutgers Newark care if I have one C on my transcript. I have a good idea of what my grades will be this semester and I realized that I can still come out with a 3.48 GPA. Does Rutgers care more about the individual class grade or the overall GPA?

You’re not bothering me at all! I definitely don’t think 1 C is going to affect them considering you AT ALL. With a 3.48 you will absolutely get in! I think they look at how you’ve improved by semester, but I think your overall GPA is more important than just one individual class grade. You should not be afraid about not getting in just for 1 C, trust me. There’s no reason why they should reject you. Be sure about that!

I was notified today that I need this semesters grades to complete evaluation

They probably do that to most Newark students who don’t have a high GPA. We just have to wait it out until our semester grades are in, which will be soon. I just don’t want them taking til June 30th with it.

Smileasec,

Just out of curiosity, do you think Rutgers Admissions would think these classes are good to admit me: I’ve taken basic chemistry, geographic information science, english comp. I & II, statistics 1, environmental science, and urban planning and more courses. In total I have 31 credits and like I mentioned about a 3.4 GPA.

Anon: Of course! They’re going to see you’ve done the English pre-reqs (which is a plus), and you’ve taken a variety of classes. You’ll probably have a lot of classes that transfer over as well. I also believe that they will see you’ve taken classes that are quite challenging to some (i.e. stats, chem, etc.). You’re fine, I promise. Let me know when they accept you though and if you have any other questions!

Hi, I applied to transfer to SEBS today form SAS Newark. I have a 3.2 GPA and 28 credits. Other than the online application do we have to send them anything else? And I applied as a biological sciences major, is it hard to get in with it?

for those of you who transferred to RBS new brunswick. Don’t take too many major courses your first semester at Rutgers. I know someone who found out the hard way.

How are the pre-business courses?

soccerguy,

what do you mean not take too many major courses? I’m taking 15 credits at RBS in the fall. What classes did this person take that made it for him?

fratrut,

Are you an accounting major? if so, be careful. RBS new brunswick is known to flunk students. They actually recently lowered the minimum GPA to be in the business school from a 3.0 to a 2.5.

This friend of mine took intermediate accounting, stats for business, AIS(warning for this class) and another major class his first semester in the business school and some other electives. So yeah all his classes were basically major classes. He had an associate degree at a community college with a 3.8 and he was exempt from any elective courses.

Also, don’t be shocked that most business professors are garbage. You literally need to be on top of your game and utilize all the help possible(finding friends who have test bank for example). It’s ridiculous to see that people who studied their asses off failed while the ones who didn’t do anything passed because of old exams.

He also has some friends who barely survived because of their gpa from freshmen year at rutgers. Otherwise they would have flunked out.

RBS is gonna be a huge jump from community college.

One advice: pick your professor WISELY… However, sometimes you won’t have a choice since only one professor teaches a particular subject.

soccerguy,

Yes I am an accounting major. I finished my associates degree this month with a 3.76 (Could’ve had a 3.8 but didn’t really care as my gpa was gonna be reset anyway.) I heard that Rutgers Business School was famous for flunking students and the professors were the absolute worst. I also heard about how terrible Accounting information systems is. Unfortunately, I dont think there is a way to not take it as it is required, or even atleast postpone it. Professor Gillet teaches it in rutgers, and I’ve seen his rating along with a few other teachers ratings. Apparently in Accounting information systems, i heard there is this 100 hour+ project and tests that are impossible. Just thinking about it scares me. There is this other teacher teacher that teaches it at night but he doesn’t have a rating despite teaching for 1 year at rutgers. My intermediate accounting teacher isn’t bad either, atleast according to rate my professor, he has a 4.2 rating, so he cant be that bad. Seems like your friend took a wrong combination of classes. I would never attempt Stats, AIS, and intermediate accouunting in the same semester, thats suicide lol. The class that probably took all his time was probably AIS, causing him not to have enough time for his other classes.

Having old tests does make all the difference in the world. I tried that with a class at my community college. I literally almost had a 100% in the class because of it. However since I am new to rutgers I don’t know how i’m gonna find someone with a test bank. Thanks a lot for the advice. It helped!!!

Here are the classes I’m taking in Fall 2013:

AIS - Professor Moffit (this class will be the end of me)
Intermediate Accounting - Krishnamurthy (might not be so bad according to rate my professor)
Intro to management (dont know who the professor is yet, but i heard it should be fairly easy for the most part)
Management Skills (again i dont know who the professor is, but i heard it should be a fairly easy class)
Business Forum - easy
Theater appreciation - (GPA booster)
1 credit elective for transfer students (easy)

Total 18 credits

6 of those credits are easy/gpa booster
12 of those credits apply toward my major

Hopefully I’m not overloading myself?

Whats your major?

fratrut,

I would probably keep it to 15 credits maximum for your first semester at Rutgers. Keep the theater app(Try registering for dance app with randy james instead if possible b/c theater requires you to see tons of shows. Both are super easy by the way( I took both).

I believe my friend had gilette for AIS and krishnamoorty for intermediate accounting. I heard the latter is not so bad.

Just make sure you register for good teachers(if possible). Stay on top of your studies always.

by the way I am a bio major haha. I transferred from a CC as well and have one more semester at rutgers until graduation.

Congrats!! Your almost done with college. Biology is harder than accounting anyday lol. How many Semesters has it taken you to graduate from rutgers since you transferred from cc? Also what is the highest amount of credits you took in a single semester?

Dreamer2016,

Isn’t it already past the deadline to apply?

Fratrut,

It will take me 4 regular semesters and one summer semester. My first two semesters were 12 credits each, the next 2 regular semesters were 14 credits each, and 7 credits in the summer semester. As I said, I have only one more semester left.

Are you planning on living on campus?

Fratrut,

No I believe it’s rolling admission until June 1. I read it somewhere on there website.

soccerguy,

Living on campus is a bit too expensive so I’m commuting. Its also another reason why i’m trying to avoid summer class.

how far away is your commute? if it is over 30 minutes I would say it’s going to be tough.
I tried commuting for the first few weeks(45 min) and just couldn’t do it. Found a pretty cheap place near rutgers instead.

Rutgers is about 18-19 miles away. I was thinking of traveling by car, and for that i have to take route 1. That’d be about 45 min away for me.I could take a train but i’d have to go to the station and wait for it, and by the time it gets, there, and taking those damn rutgers buses will take me over a hour commute just going one way. I heard parking was bad at rutgers. I’ve never seen it at rutgers so I can’t say anything, but hopefully parking near the new livingston building isn’t too bad, as all my classes will be held there. I’m still trying to decide. in terms of expense, train would be cheaper for me by a whole lot, and I’ll only be taking classes 4 days a week, as I don’t like to go to school on a friday.
