Fall 2013 Transfers

Hi all!

I’ve seen some previous threads on this subject pertaining to past years. I thought that it would be nice to establish a new thread for 2013, so that we can engage in some discussion and alert others of acceptance(s). I’ve heard that, like many schools, people make friends early-on. It would be cool to get to know some of you who have Bard as their top choice!

On a less relaxed note, I haven’t gotten a letter from admissions yet. This stage of waiting is driving me up a wall! I have been flying through the spectrum between super-confidence to downright paranoia since visiting and interviewing. Previous threads indicate that many individuals received acceptance letters by 4/12, and some didn’t even arrive until 5/1-5/3! I simply can’t fathom another month of this.

Anyhow, I’m focused on Psychology (MBB concentration) as well as Mandarin and music (performance & all aspects) as my chief academic interests. How’s everyone else doing? :p

Hi newwun, it’s so nice to see that there is another Bard College transfer applicant here! My name’s Dani, and I applied as an incoming sophomore & a half! My major is Biology/Psychology and here are my stats:

Current College: California Community College
HS GPA: 3.94 (weighted) / 3.75 (unweighted)
College GPA: 3.75 (4.0 midterm)
SATS: 1730 (not so good :\ I am horrible at standardized testing)
ECS: High school-- Interned at the San Diego Zoo (in the Gorilla habitat), Editor-in-chief for my yearbook, editor for a published book, studied abroad (in Italy, Greece, and Turkey)
College-- Worked 40 hours (full time) while going to school, volunteered at the San Diego County Medical Society (20 hrs/week), Phi Theta Kappa Vice President, volunteered for the San Diego Wildlife National Refuge, volunteered at my college’s museum, and volunteered for the San Diego River.

As for the letters, Bard mails them out on April 15th, so depending where you are, you’ll receive it sometime that week! May I ask what your stats are? I didn’t interview, I wish I did because it’s a fantastic school! The transfer acceptance rate seems pretty good since it’s around 50%. What other schools did you apply to?
