Do you think I would have a good chance of getting into JMU?

I go to Northern Virginia CC and I'll be getting my Associates in Music by the end of the semester with a 3.2. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get guaranteed because I retook a couple classes and that knocks you out of the agreement. I'm a first generation hispanic female. I wanted to change my major though to Education.

I’m a first generation Hispanic male. Desafortunadamente, I don’t think race OR first generation status helps. I am applying to trasnsfer with an AA in Liberal Arts with a 3.1 GPA. People tell me I wasted my money on applying, but I’ve seen worse get in, and better get denied. We’ll have to wait and see but I think we both are 50/50.

Yes I have! I agree, they are inconsistent with acceptance. we are both pretty middle-of-the-road though. Have you applied yet? Good luck to you too!

Hey, I’m sorry for missing that last post, HopefulWaiting! Did you get your personal statement sorted out? The postmark deadline was March 1st, so now it’s a waiting game. My personal statement was talking about my first semester and how I regretted my first major, I also mentioned work and volunteer experience.

@WeWillSeeIGuess So I went to the applicant center and for some reason it says incomplete but it doesn’t have anything in the To Do or Holds section.

@HopefulWaiting I’d call them and ask them why. It must be something wrong with your transcripts or something. I’d call and make sure that they didn’t lose anything. My status says Completed

I think you may have a chance! Even though you are not doing guaranteed admissions, you are still completing an associates which JMU favors (they like those who have an associates or lots of credits). Best of luck!
