@nickdrake what was your first TOEFL score? What is it now?
@Luna88 I didn’t take the TOEFL. I submitted SAT scores.
Has anyone else found that the ‘Track Your Application’ in https://admissions.columbia.edu isn’t up-to-date?
Whereas the Application Status (continued from the actual application) at https://admissions.gs.columbia.edu/apply/status is a lot more current.
I’m just a little worried because the last time my ‘Track Your Application’ was updated was 19 days ago, and I wouldn’t want my application to be delayed or anything. And with the School of GS being my first choice I would like to find out decisions ASAP because my other admission results come out April 1st.
I completed my application by January 15th and yesterday I got an email that my application is complete and now in the review process. My “Track Your Application” page still shows that some materials that i submitted are not received nor processed. So I wouldn’t worry too much about “Track Your Application” page. I was also worried about it, so I emailed and called them to check what materials they received. And i was told to use the Application Status page as use of Track Your Application" page.
Thanks so much @yesorno0101
I was stressing out so much.
Best of luck!
@LasagneMoodAF My ‘Track Your Application’ page still lists my High School transcript as not yet received. I would exclusively check the Application Status page for required documents. I’m pretty sure that the track your application page is mainly used to check the actual decision itself. I also reread the email GS sent me and it said my application has moved forward in the review process. @yesorno0101 Did the email you received say the same thing?
@LasagneMoodAF You’re welcome. Best of luck too. @nickdrake Yes the email says that my application is complete and it has moved forward in the review process. It has the name of the director of admission on the last. I think we got the same email.
Yeah most definitely. It would just surprise me if the review process really just began–seems like a short period of time for the committee to review all the early action applicants if March 1st decisions are guaranteed.
I assume that there are not so many January 15th early applicants, so it might be enough time for them to review. From previous threads, it usually takes them four to five hours to review each applicant, which are way more hours than traditional schools spend
Great, cheers for that @nickdrake. Cant wait till I get that email! The wait is killing me
Good luck!
That’s a good point. For some reason I imagined an admissions committee spending weeks on a student’s application. Reading now that some schools spend as little as 15 minutes on some students. Definitely makes me appreciate GS’s commitment to understanding the full scope of someone’s background.
I just called the admissions dept. and the lady I spoke with said the link that was sent in the email is their old tracking system. The most up to date is the application management page that you used to submit your application. Everything should have a green check mark next to it if it is complete. This wait is driving me nuts. I haven’t received an email about my app being under review yet! My last letter of recommendation wasn’t received until 1/19 though…I’m so nervous!!
@Mike2011 did they tell you that you are considerd the January 15th applicant when you spoke to them? Possibly you might be considerd the Marh 1st applicnat
yea I believe to be considered for early admissions you just need to make sure the first part of the app is in from what I’ve read… it would be such a bummer if I got pushed back to march 1st because my Professor didn’t send it in on time. I had all my materials in before Jan15.
I thought that to be considered the January 15th applicant, we need to submit every material by January 15th. That’s what I was told when I attended the information session. But I might be wrong.
I’m almost positive that to be guaranteed a decision by March 1st, the entire application has to be complete. This is according to the GS website under important dates. @Mike2011 This doesn’t mean you definitely won’t receive your decision on that date, just that you are not guaranteed it. If you read last year’s Fall Admissions thread there were a few applicants who didn’t have their applications completed by January 15th but still received March 1st decisions. @yesorno0101 Did you exceed the word limit on your personal statement?
No I didn’t exceed world limits my essay is 1999 word long but from previous threads, exceeding the limits doesn’t affect much.
Hi, does anyone know if GS allows Score Choice for SAT scores, where we can select which scores to send rather than having to send all of them? Someone at admissions told me that they don’t, but it says here that CC and SEAS do. https://undergrad.admissions.columbia.edu/apply/first-year/testing
Hello all.
I’ve been lurking around this thread for a while and figured it would be good to post. I’ve applied to GS by the Jan 15 deadline and should receive a decision by March 1. I received the email that has been mentioned here. Coming from a 4-year university in VA.
Good luck to all!
Hello @Systema did you complete scholarship application? If so did you receive any email that confirms that they received your scholarship application? I have already submitted it but I didn’t get any confirmation email that they received my application, so I kinda worried about it.
