Fall 2016 chance

I am currently a sophomore studying economics at my state school and I am in the honors program with a 3.7. I have wanted to go to George Washington University ever since I started looking at colleges but I didn’t get in as a senior in high school. I haven’t taken any easy or gpa booster classes. I want to transfer there because my school doesn’t offer a BS in economics or a minor in public policy, which I want, and also possibly more classes in arabic. I have okay extracurriculars.

Does anybody have experience with transferring to GWU or have any links to someone who does? Is my gpa competitive if I can keep it up this semester? Any advice is appreciated.

Your GPA and the fact that you’re in an honors program will look good on your application. The fact that you’ve applied already will also help, as it shows both persistence and interest in the university. Even with “okay” ECs I say go for it regardless. The biggest thing you can do at this point to improve your chances is to write a stellar essay. Sell yourself, but also explain why GW is the school for you. Why GW? What does GW have that you can’t get elsewhere?

Good luck!
