There wasn’t a thread yet so I thought I would start one to see when people start to get accepted and whatnot
Just got my acceptance this afternoon! Good luck to everyone else!
@lindseyyhill1 just wondering what was your GPA in college and what major you applied to. i have a 3.7 and applied to communication studies major, i’m transferring from Emerson and really want to get in
@honourkristen I was at Boston University and had a 3.35 but that was only after one semester since I am currently a freshman and I applied under Strategic and Corporate Communications
My D was accepted for Screen Acting. If accepted, has anyone received their official letter & info? She was emailed on 3/17 but we are still waiting for the packet.
@actkid I haven’t received anything yet and I live only an hour away from the university so I’m hoping I get it soon
@lindseyyhill1 Thanks for letting me know! Was one of the reasons why you left BU the distance from home? We are on the east coast and Chapman would be a huge decision!
@actkid I definitely missed my family, but it was more that the lifestyle was very different for me. Not having a car was a big factor because Im so used to being able to drive everywhere. Also there is just so much to do in California and I missed that. And of course the weather was rough!
Good luck everyone! I transferred last fall as a junior and this time was very exciting for me. After the email your package should arrive in around a week (or thats what happened in my case).
We finally received her official letter of acceptance and package, but still no fin aid info!
I am currently a freshman too @lindseyyhill1 which is why I was wondering
also @lindseyyhill1 what was your GPA in highschool
@honourkristen I had a 3.9 (weighted, 6 APs total) and 31 ACT
@actkid My financial aid info was on the mychapman portal before I received my letter of acceptance so definitely check there!
@cutransfer If you don’t mind answering a couple questions…what major are you and how was the transfer process, did you make friends easy or was there more of an adjustment period?
@lindseyyhill1 i am an strategic and corporate comm major and the transfer process academically went very smoothly, just make sure you meet with an advisor (both in the advising center and in your major). I didnt go to orientation and I was fine (not saying that you shouldnt go!).
I had a rough time adjusting to the area, I come from a smaller city in northern cal where the weather is nice and theres only one freeway. The heat here killed me and orange county is very big. So that was my biggest adjustment.
Socially speaking, I joined a sorority and felt connected to the campus that way. I initially made friends during orientation social events that I still talk to but I mostly hang out with my sorority friends. I dont think there was ever a time where I felt truly alone but my boyfriend lives pretty close by so that might have been a factor. So I totally recommend greek life and going to all the social events during O week to make new friends. If you can live on campus your life will be so much easier in the social aspect. Thats probably the only thing I would do different!
Let me know if you have any other questions
@cutransfer Thank you so much! I’m currently going to be Stargetic com major as well but I am possibly switching to comm studies. Did you transfer as a sophomore or a junior? I also plan on living on campus…did you know other transfers who did? And was rushing as a transfer pretty normal?
Sorry for all the questions but this is really helpful!
@honourkristen If I may ask, what made you decide to transfer from Emerson College? I originally went to a small school in Boston similar to Emerson, but reverse transferred to a CC back home. I just got accepted to Emerson today, but I’m also waiting to hear back from Chapman.
Has anyone received any info or acceptances as a film applicant?
@lindseyyhill1 how do you check your financial aid? Is that a way to sometimes see acceptances early?
@film2019 My financial aid didn’t show up until about a week after I got my acceptance email and it was in a portal that was only accessible after being admitted
