@Fall2016Transfer That is exciting news! I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Eleven days 'til decisions start rolling out?
@sevensparrows 11 days? Where did you hear this?
Hi guys, I’m new to the thread. Just wondering, how do they inform us of decisions? Is it by email or is there a website we need to check (a UCLA site)? I appreciate the info!
@bonjouruc2016 Decisions will be posted on the admissions portal in late April. Here’s the link: https://www.admission.ucla.edu/myApplication/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fmyApplication
@CATransfer2016 Thanks, greatly appreciate it! Good luck to us all!
@sevensparrows I believe admission decisions will start being released in late April as @CATransfer2016 mentioned
Hey everyone,
I’ve been a binge reader on this sight ever since I sent out my applications this term. I hope you guys join the chat and if you have any comments or questions I’d love to help.

I am a decently rounded student, I partook in some activities here and there, the strength of my extracurriculars would fall in the realms of above average, but nothing special. 7/10
Essay: Nothing special, took me a couple days to wright. Somewhat gives a portrait as to who I am. 7/10
Accepted: Pending
Rejected: Pending
I think that just about sums it all up, hope to hear from you guys.

Hi everyone.
Been stressing out lately over this, and wondering what my chances are for admission and getting the Regents Scholarship.
Ethnicity: Middle Eastern
Economic Background: Upper-Middle Class
Residence: CA
GPA: 4.0
Major: Political Science
EC: Student Government, College Newspaper, Student Ambassador, Religious Community Service, Community Service, Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society, published poet, 2 internships at 2 different California State Departments, work experience.
Essays: Solid ( I would rate 7-8/10 )
If ya’ll could please me know what I should be expecting!
@POTUS2040 You should be expecting an acceptance lolol You have a 4.0 gpa and tons of extracurriculars.
What do you guys think of the chances of a first-year transfer?
Ethnicity: Caucasian–Middle Eastern
Economic Background: Upper-Middle Class
Residence: CA
GPA: 4.0
Major: Political Science
IGETC: Completed.
Prereqs: Completed.
EC: Founder and president of a fairly large club (The Current Affairs Club), work experience as a creative writing specialist at my summer camp, the forensics team, and a few other things.
Essays: Solid (UCLA rep emailed me telling me that it was “Very, very strong.”)
But the catch is that I’m a first year transfer. I entered with 27 units worth of APs, so I’m technically a Sophomore right now. So my 4.0 is in only one semester (but I’ll have another 4.0 this semester…not that they’d see it, lol).
My GPA is below the average GPA for cog sci transfer students, so I’m fairly certain my chances of being admitted is pretty low.
Major: Cognitive Science (pre)
GPA: 3.52
IGETC: Done this spring
Personal statement: College Advisor liked it/10
ECs: Honors program, did research for the Honors transfer council at UCI. Not all that much, really.
I took a chem class I did not need, just because I liked chemistry, and I ended up getting a C. Really tanked my GPA, which otherwise, would be 3.8-ish.
Mine still says Application received. Did anybody else’s status change?
@PreMedSci16 Same here
@solostish You’ve got a 4.0 and all of your pre-reqs done, there isn’t a chance in heck they won’t accept you.
@POTUS2040 you have a higer chance if you are a anthro in ucla. i have talked to the admissions about it and told me if i wanted to go ucla i should consider changing major to anthro
Is it normal for a rep to email you about your essay? Like they did @solostish
@Rey22David She represents my county’s CC system. She told us during a UCLA Rep meeting that she’d critique our essays if we emailed it to her.
Any linguistics-cs major here?
Major: Linguistics and Computer Science
GPA: 3.88
EC: just average
Prereqs: one missing but my school doesn’t provide that
Essays: I thinks they are both solid…
TAP: Certified
I am really nervous…
Would anyone care to “chance” me?
Major: Communication Studies
GPA: 4.0
EC: Joined 2 clubs in community college, did some volunteer work, took up some internships in entertainment and the media.
IGETC: Completed
Pre-requisites: I did them all by fall 2015 except for one—intro to linguistics—which I only took in the spring. A UCLA counselor told me it was fine but I’m still a little worried about this because the info booklet states that it has to be completed by the fall before transfer.
Essays: I’d say maybe 7/10.
Not TAP certified. I go to a California community college.
I know UCLA takes a holistic approach when it comes to reviewing applications so I’m really nervous given my lackluster extracurriculars and essays… The only thing I have going for me is my GPA but that won’t get me far because I hear that even 4.0s get rejected for Comm Studies given how impacted it is.
