FALL 2016 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

@GirlPower1 How did you get into SB? Don’t most of the UC decisions come out April?

@stepbrotherbear I would do the second update to be on the safe side. I too had a winter semester but there is the opportunity to make a second TAU and I am pretty sure if you don’t update the grades that worst case scenario it could be interpreted as trying to not disclose your updated grades.

@grimmghost UCSB began releasing their decisions today, they will be releasing decisions on a rolling basis until April 30th

Oh no way, I didn’t apply there so I didn’t know what was going on. Congrats! @GirlPower1 Please keep us posted with your remaining choices!

Btw, someone mentioned earlier that their application says received??

Campuses selected

Campus Date Forwarded
Berkeley 12/03/2015
Davis 12/03/2015
Irvine 12/03/2015
Los Angeles 12/03/2015
San Diego 12/03/2015
Your University of California application for admission has been successfully submitted and forwarded to your campus selection.

I only have “submitted and forwarded”? Does anyone know if this means anything?

@grimmghost It says ‘application received’ on the UCLA portal which you can access here: https://www.admission.ucla.edu/myapplication/Login.aspx

Here’s the link for Berkeley’s portal: https://apply.berkeley.edu/account/login?r=https%3a%2f%2fapply.berkeley.edu%2fapply%2fstatus

and here’s the one for Davis: https://myadmissions.ucdavis.edu/applicants/

I didn’t apply to San Diego or Irvine, so i’m not sure what their links are.

WHAAATTTT I DIDNT KNOW THERE ARE PORTALS IM SUCH A STUPID PERSON. Thank you endlessly!! btw what major did you apply as?

@grimmghost No worries, there are way too many things to keep track of haha. You’re welcome! My major is Political science

@grimmghost I really honestly hope you did the update on MAP@Berkeley prior to the deadline (I saw on your thread you applied to Berkeley). The deadline was originally January 31, but was extended to February 2. X_X

I hope this doesn’t come out the wrong way, @grimmghost, but how did you not know there were portals? The universities send out emails letting applicants know that they exist, how to sign up for them, and what the websites are. They send these messages to whatever email address you used on your UC application, so you had to have received them by now. If you applied to Berkeley and didn’t do their supplemental application, I would contact the university to see what you can do to salvage consideration of your application. Again, I don’t want to sound rude, I’m just genuinely curious as to how you didn’t know about this important part of the application process. :-/

@GirlPower1 Are you considering UCI with Regents over UCLA, out of curiosity?

I’m getting so anxious!!
Major: Art History BA
GPA: 4.00
IGETC: Completed after spring
Major Pre-reqs: Completed after spring
EC: No current volunteer, but 3-4 volunteer activities in the past couple years, worked full time for 2 semesters, now working same job part time, also dog walker and other animal-related activities
Essay: pretty strong, had 2 professors review!
California resident, Parent is a UC faculty member (no clue if that makes any difference at all lol)
Applied: UCLA, San Diego, Irvine, LMU & USC
Accepted: LMU (haven’t heard back from the rest yet)

@goldencub UCLA is definitely my top, top choice. UCI is actually my last choice out of all the UC’s I applied to. Would have been nice if I got the Regents for UCLA since it comes with so many benefits there. But they let the prospective UCLA regents know in February

@041191 I knew there were portals for Berkeley and Davis (I did the MAP updates when necessary) and Davis I Tagged but I found a lot of the portal reminders from the other campuses in my spam folder because I kept getting a lot of flyers for when I was at college fairs for them. I know, it’s so effing obvious and that’s why I was so shocked. I’m the first in my family and of a lot of my friends to transfer to a UC, all of my friends are in grad school and my parents attended university in a different country. Just slipped my understanding of the application process and a counselor never mentioned it. I appreciate that you don’t mean to sound rude, I can see from your end how obvious it is and I was unaware. Learn to live and live to learn I suppose.

I let y’all down :frowning:

Off topic, is anyone else having problems loading the MyAdmission for UCI? I’ll try again in a few hours.

@bnnguyen Thanks for replying! I’m definitely gonna put myself out there if I do get into UCLA. It’s my top choice!

@grimmghost The UCI myadmission page is working for me. Sadly, no messages yet.

Hey so I plan to apply to transfer to UCLA as a Psych major however calculating my GPA by the last quarter before I would transfer to UCLA, it would be 3.79 which is below the average of Psych admits in 2015. Also this calculation takes into consideration that I would get all A’s in my future classes. So I was wondering if my chances become significantly low with that GPA? Sorry, a bit worried about it.

@Ray1500 You never know, you could have a great personal statement and extracurriculars that make you considered for the major. Sadly that is a bit low of a GPA, I have the average gpa for the psych major and even that makes me doubt my chances too. I think they examine your app based on your current GPA, sure they give you the benefit of the doubt but there’s nothing you can do but hope for the best. Best of luck

Got into UCI with Regents

@grimmghost I thought regents were only for freshmans.
