@UCMtoUCSBHopeful
They’ll know about it and they’ll ask you to retract your SIR from one of the UC campuses. It’s best not to test them.
I don’t see how a school could have authority to take away a student’s own right to pick the school of their liking, unless they SIR’d to more than one school.
It would seem to me that because admissions decisions don’t all come out at the same time, people have a right to SIR with whatever school they choose, even though it may be atypical compared to waiting on all admissions decisions and then picking.
@UCLAFFF
Well, they don’t have a problem with anyone filing their SIR to any one school. They’ll still accept or reject you as they would normally.
But they can and will take action if you try to SIR to multiple UC schools.
Anyone have a set date as to when decisions will come out? Im going to guess the 17th.
@Panorama14 In the past, UCLA tended to release the Friday prior to Cal’s release date. Expect it on 4/22.
Do we have to submit midterm reports? Will they send us information as to how they expect us to acquire that information after responses? Or am I referring to TAU with this question? I remember a girl way back when on this thread asking how she could have a midterm report from an online professor.
@grimmghost No, as long as you submitted your TAU for your fall grades, then you’re fine. If you’re on the quarter system your grades most likely will not be in on time for it to impact your admissions decision. There are times when UCLA will ask for your final winter grades, transcripts up to this point, syllabi and other things but if they haven’t asked, it doesn’t matter at this point.
Usually, mid-term grades are not asked for. It is not a typical request from the UCs during the application process.
@TheVisionary - can you explain the email you got a bit more? Did you get accepted into their honors society?
@sbccstudent19 It was not from UCLAs official honor society. It was from an honor society affiliated with the UCs. It, however, it referenced me multiple times as a UCLA student, which makes me believe that UCLA simply released my information to this organization, which I find to be rather rude considering that I am confident that they will be rejecting me.
I swear I checked the do not release my information their partners check box. T__T
Regarding the whole SIRing question I had, I received confirmation from both UCSB and UCI and they both told me you can SIR at any UC campus but if you choose to attend another, you’ll just have to forfeit your $100 and withdraw it! Yay! I’m sure it’s the same thing at UCLA.
Thank you @Cayton !
Talked to an admissions counselor today:
She explained to me that all, if not most freshmen decisions have been made and transfer applicants have admissions counselors full attention now.
By the way, I am in my last quarter right now and I cannot believe how fast it has gone by! Hopefully every single one of you will be apart of the accepted applicant pool. Best of luck!
Can someone chance me?
GPA: 3.92
Personal Statement: I would say 8/10
Major: Environmental Sciences
Pre-Reqs: I don’t think I completed every single one (I am out of state so it was tough to know which pre-reqs I needed for each school)
Applied: UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB
Accepted: UCSB!
Denied: None
Does not completing all of the pre-reqs really hurt my chances of acceptance? I’m kind of freaking out. I believe I missed a few.
@heyhey12321 you should check https://www.admission.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/UCLA_TAG.pdf
It says the things you should have in addition to the GE requirements/ IGETC
Does anyone know how relevant the personal statements are for transfer admission? I have a 4.0, all pre-reqs complete and also good ECs, but I feel like I messed with my personal statements and now I cant sleep. I applied as a biz econ major. Thanks
@imgonnagetin Why do you think you messed with your personal statement? I’m sure it’s fine!
At the end of my personal statement I tried to make a conclusion showing why I am a better candidate than other people might be. Now when I read it, it just sounds like an ahole. It sounds really bad, and definitely does not portray who I am. I’m worried because universities are always looking for humble, hardworking people… and thats the opposite of what my last paragraph sounds like.
@imgonnagetin Your handle is incredibly ironic. Anyway, the UC’s that read the PS stress that it is only supplemental - that is, any information given in your personal statements can only help your application. They shouldn’t hold it against you.
Did you talk about why you’re a good candidate, or did you talk about why other people aren’t as good as you?
I only talked about me! But still… gotta see to understand haha. Since it is not something I’m proud of, I won’t be posting it here, but I appreciate you guys help. I’m trying to stay positive, but its hard when that’s 50% of the schools you applied for. Hopefully it will be alright. Good luck to everyone!
@imgonnagetin lol I highly doubt they’re thinking you’re an a**hole. I’m sure it can only help. Confidence is a big part of it ! Good luck.
Question:
On the extracurriculars section of the app, I was only able to list my extracurriculars from high school. The only place where I was able to mention my extracurriculars in college was in my PS. Was this true for everyone else?
Thank you!
