FALL 2016 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

I called as well, she was not amused whatsoever, apparently a lot of people have been calling but she said not this friday but in 2 weeks… idk though

Yeah, UCLA will be the 22nd or later I’m sure.

@muchalucha are you applying as an out-of-state student?

so nerve wrecking. hard to work on term papers with this much anxiety

@Charphilo

Two weeks from this Friday (29th), or the second Friday to come (22nd)?

It would be very abnormal if UCLA didn’t release decisions next Friday (4/22) if the last several years are any indication (they’ve consistently released decisions one week before Berkeley).

Yes, there are 5 Fridays this month, but keep in mind UCLA received 119,000(!!!) applications this year, 22,000 of which were transfer applications. I don’t see how we could expect it any earlier than 4/22.

Looks like UCI just started rolling out a bulk of their decisions today. One more week for us! (at the latest)

@iamthetopgun Nope, CCC student (born and raised in California)

They’re acting like we’re asking for when Beyonce is going to drop B6! Lol!

@grimmghost this is the first April in 5 years to have 5 fridays. The last time was in 2011 and that year, Berkeley released on the last Friday (April 29th) & UCLA released the Monday of the same week (April 25th). I’m not sure if that’s an indication it will happen again the same way since it has been 5 years and admissions could be different now.

@AMITY101 LOL Or when Frank drops his next album

UCLA DECISIONS WILL NOT COME OUT ON A MONDAY :-w

I’ve kinda asked this before but do you any of you guys have access to the UCLA student portal? Due to summer school or other reasons? If so, have you guys seen any change in activity?

In past threads there was talk about how there were changes in Financial Aid Tracking/Awards and Aid and Housing around this time.

major: philosophy/alternate: religious studies (i plan on double-majoring anyway!)
GPA: 3.93 (one B, otherwise As)
major GPA: 4.0
extracurriculars: group instructor for symbolic logic class at my CC, TA for my department chair, merit scholarship for philosophical research paper, philosophy club participation, math/english tutoring for my nephew with learning disabilities.
personal statements: essentially centered around my love for philosophy and interest in studying it at the graduate level, as well as being a first-generation college student and aspiring professor, etc. i really enjoyed writing both prompts so i hope that this is evident in my essays.

i wasn’t admitted to UCSB so i’m terrified. i’ll have my math and science IGETC requirements done this spring.

good luck everyone!

@Philosoup About the trick thing…that’s exactly what I’ve been trying to figure out. There are some threads that are about 2 or 3 years old that indicate a trick. But I haven’t found any threads from Fall 2014 and on that mention a trick. They might have discontinued it after the student portal update, but I really don’t know. :-?

@salingers you seem like a strong applicant. I don’t know why UCSB didn’t accept you.

just got accepted to uci today! waiting to hear back now from ucsd and ucla. my gpa for ucla’s standards seems pretty below average and considering that this major is popular at this school, i’m not too certain about my chances. but since irvine is my dream school i won’t mind too much if i get rejected. nonetheless i wish the best of luck to everyone on the thread trying to get into ucla since i know a lot of people dream getting in! crossing my fingers for all you guys <3

UC GPA: 3.5
Major: global studies
TAG: n/a, tagged irvine
IGETC: completed
Pre-Req : completed except for macroeconomics
EC: past part time retail job experience, a few small volunteer programs here and there (donating blood, meals on wheels, locks for love). i’m also from out of state but currently attend community college in california and have completed a year and a half of school in cali.
Applied: uci, ucla, ucsd, ucr
Accepted: ucr, uci
Rejected: n/a, haven’t heard back from ucsd & ucla

@salingers UCSB may have rejected you because you did not complete math by the end of the Fall. I’m not completely sure how that works, but I know they’re fussy about math/english requirements being completed early.

I don’t understand why they won’t give us a date… I understand a definite deadline is hard with so many applicants, but they could say decisions will start to come out on a certain day and thereafter… I feel like it would save them all the phone calls of anxious students.

They probably want to avoid obligatory deadlines. The number of applications fluctuates from year to year, and I would expect the quantity of admissions staff members does too. They probably have a tentative date scheduled that they aim for but are forbidden to tell us of. Sucks but all evidence seems to point to it being one week from today, which isn’t too bad. At least UCLA gives us a specific time frame. UCSD just says “by April 30.” Pretty unnecessary to be so vague, in my opinion.
