Hey y’all. I was following the UW Transfer Thread from 2014. I found this page and thought I would post my stats!
Major: BA in Public Health, applied to admissions and major
GPA: 3.78 cumulative, I’m not sure what my pre-req GPA is. 3.85 HS GPA
Applied w/ 70ish credits, finishing my AA in August at SCC
All my prereqs are done, and I have at least a 3.0 in them all
EC: internship, hospital volunteering, multiple clubs/non-profits, summer camps, also work full-time and pay for my own finances
First generation college student, immigrant to US (greencard holder), gparents were immigrants to UK,
I had my personal statement edited by a few well-known journalists and professional editors (family bigwigs), so I am feeling stoked about my essay. Watch me jinx myself though.
I applied as out of state but will change that in August to in state. I am thinking about trying to get SCC to approve instate because it is so much easier. But I made sure to follow UW’s rules for residency just in case.
I was accepted into WWU and they want a response by May 1st. Ahhh, I am starting to feel the pressure. I really, really hope I get in! My lease is up on May 31st, and it would be nice to know before than so I can move accordingly…
I wonder what my chances are for Foster School of Business based on my stats below:
Pre app GPA: 4.0
Accum GPA: 3.99
WSA: Waiting/Really worried…
Transfer students from WA CC
Will complete 103 credits this spring 2017
After AA completion will have 3.99 overall GPA.
Personal Essay: Fair
Extra Curr: 126 hours of tutoring international students
Univ applied/Status/Major:
WWU: Admitted with distinction/BS Computer Science
UW Bothell: Waiting/Business Admin
UW Seattle: Waiting/Business Admin (Foster School of Business)
It would be nice to hear from other applicants. I hope all is well.
Will someone chance me? I’m getting really anxious about these decisions coming out!
HS GPA: 4.0 (Class rank 1/50)
ACT: 32 (35 E, 33 M, 31 R, 31 S I think)
College GPA: 4.0 (over 3 semesters of 19+ credit hours)
EC’s: Phi Theta Kappa honor society (president), Student Ambassador, Music Department (I play in the concert band but also have been volunteering to play in the pit for musicals in the area), I coach a little league baseball team in the summer, I’ve shadowed a pharmacist and an anesthesiologist
For work I tutor middle schoolers in math and science at the library twice a week after school, and then I also work as a pharmacy technician.
I’m currently at a community college in southern Illinois so I’m not sure if being at a community college would affect my chances of admission or not.
How many credits do you have, 57? That and being out of state really hinders your chance. Your gpa is obviously great, you seem to have good EC’s, but not having an AA/90 credits and being out of state is what makes me worried. Your EC’s could help you but ultimately, they are mostly looking for people from WA CC who have 90+ credits.
I think we still have a month minimum before we will hear back at least that’s what I tell myself because any slight possibility will get my hopes up and make me anxious. I’m trying to wait until June to keep my nerves down haha. This wait is crazy, do any other schools take this long?
For transfer student, do we have a status update for each step? I checked on MyUW every day and it keeps saying that “Thank you for applying for admission to the Seattle campus of the University of Washington for autumn quarter 2017. We will inform you when a decision is made on your application”
Or there is other page we can go to check our status?
Hey ya’ll! just wanted to let you know that my unofficial transcript loaded today. I can see a student ID as well. Does that mean that I was accepted? The message on myUW application page still reads “Thank you for applying for admission to the Seattle campus of the University of Washington for autumn quarter 2017. We will inform you when a decision is made on your application.” Can’t wait to hear back.
@jcm4797 I think that’s definitely a good sign! A lot of people usually get in with the “unofficial transcript” trick. Mine is still saying “The Student Personal Services are available to current and former UW students”… congrats!!
I was accepted!! The message on top of my UW application page changed to let me know I was accepted! Can’t wait to hear from the rest of you! I will apply to my major in July when the applications open.
