*UW-Seattle: Winter 2020 Transfer*

Anyone on here apply as a transfer to the UW-Seattle? If so- looks like we are entering the notification period. It helps to see when the decisions start rolling in. Please share your experience (or anxiety-you’re not alone!). Good luck to all :).

The suspense is almost unbearable!

My application:
Psychology as my intended major
2.9 college GPA with 90+ credits
President of a minority advocacy association, an officer in my CC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter
My essay was about a catastrophic life experience that happened during what should have been my second to last quarter at CC (Winter 2017). I blew my grades up by trying to stay in school through it all, eventually took some (well… a lot) of time off to get myself together. I wrote about my motivation to go back to finish school now. I’m in my for real last quarter at CC right now, and I’ll have good grades to show my improvement if this doesn’t end up being my last application.

Good luck to everyone

@lmt1610 , I’m sure your perseverance will work in your favor! My path hasn’t been a straight one either(many set-backs). What matters is that you keep going. Your stats along with a good essay explaining your experience should put you in a great position. Lets just hope we hear back sooner rather than later!

I applied with a 3.1 GPA for Microbiology! Also had a lot of difficulties (This is currently my 5th year at CC) and wrote about that in my essay. Fingers crossed for all of us that we get in!

I’ll drop stats:

*3.7 GPA at my former uni. I have retaken a couple classes that I tried to stick out and should’ve just dropped (due to personal reasons). Therefore, if UW includes the first grade along with the second score in my overall GPA (which they probably will knowing my luck), I’m around a 3.2 GPA. My former university allowed the second score to replace the first.

*Majoring in Physics w/ 90+ credits.
*Moved to Seattle this year and took courses at a local CC to keep the wheels rolling as I await a decision from UW. However, at this point I’m too far in to take anymore classes at a CC.
*In-state CC transfer.

This is my second time applying to UW. If I don’t get in this time, it’s back to work for me :frowning: . Which will be heartbreaking since I’ve worked so hard to get this far. SO- yes, I second @keikeik 's comment " Fingers crossed for all of us that we get in!"

I’m surprised that more people aren’t posting to this!

Maybe that means there aren’t as many applicants for the winter quarter this year? Or possibly another thread that I’m unaware of… This time last year, it looks like a decent amount of decisions were already being released. Obviously the suspense is weighing heavily on my mind LOL.

I applied as an oos freshman for general admission. I graduated from high school with unweighted gpa 3.95(have taken 12 ap classes) and I scored 1420 on SAT. I hope to be a design major. I am going to be really disappointed if I don’t get in bc Udub is the only school I applied for winter/spring admission:(

I heard that they have way less applicants for winter quarter than fall qaurter so hopefully they will release decisions soon

I hope you get in, @JeanUjean !!.. like TOMORROW.

Oh my goooodness looking at the transfer thread for winter 2019 there definitely are so many more people. I really do wonder if less people applied this year, or if just no one is on college confidential. It looks like some people started hearing back on the 4th of November last year! I’m so nervous. I want to hear back but I also don’t haha.

That’s what I’m saying! What’s going on? There seems to be a lot less activity compared to last year. I could be mistaken, but I thought I even saw decisions going out during the last week of October. I read somewhere that the advising/orientation sign-up date was an indicator for when they might start sending decisions (makes sense to me). Last year when people were hearing back early, the orientation date was also Nov. 7th (as it is this year)… we could be hearing back soon!

@gNelly yes! Ahh excited but also dreading it!!

Also quick question, when you guys were choosing your intended major on the application, were you able to choose a major for first choice and second choice? I was talking to my science advisor at my CC and he was telling me that they should have this, but I only had the choice to put in one major. Did I do something wrong?:frowning:

@keikeik , I applied for physics which is a “minimum requirement” major. Therefore, I did not get the option to apply for a second choice major either, as one would not be required. In my case- as long as I meet the minimum GPA requirements for the department, I will be admitted upon request (is how I understood it). If your intended major is an “open admission” or “minimum requirement” major, that is likely the reason for you not being able to select a second choice.

I would check out to see if your major falls under either of the two categories listed above. If you are applying for a “competitive major,” then they ask for a second choice major to fall back on (in case they are unable to accept you for that department).

To add to my recent comment- I didn’t mean to insinuate that I will immediately be admitted to my major if admitted for general admission. There is a process which requires that I first attend for at least one quarter, then apply for my major, etc. You can read about your specific major requirements online.

@gNelly ahhh I see thank you so much! That clears things up! Microbiology is a minimum major!

Awesome! Glad I could help

OMG what does it look like when your unofficial transcript loads? Mine changed with student number, birth date, class, college, and major but idk if that means it loaded or not. I’m freaking out.

Hey everybody! This morning I checked my unofficial transcript and the page loaded with a student id number. I know this doesn’t mean acceptance for sure, but still, I am hopeful!

@LinzMarie the same exact thing just happened to me! I’m freaking out, I’m shaking. My college says arts & sciences and under major it says pre-science.

@keikeik I think that is what people mean when they say it loads. I’m super excited to get official news.

I’m super excited for you guys!! Are you talking about the “unofficial transcript” link? Did it used to take you to “student personal services” and say what you were logged in under in red lettering? Is that the link that now loads something different? I so hope you guys got in. I do not wish this stress upon anyone.
