@gosteelers123abc On the UC application website, it says 11:59 PST 11/30/2016. So I suppose by midnight tomorrow
Does anyone know if there’s a limit for the amount of upper-division units we’re allowed to accumulate before transferring?
I’m planning to take 4 upper division courses, making for 16 total upper division units. I remember reading somewhere that the campuses have limits on upper-div units, I’m worried that 16 units will jeopardize my chances for admission. I can maybe get rid of one class, making for 12 units. I’ve already taken 1 upper div so I can’t do anything about that, and I need to take the other 2 to complete breadth requirements.
@Breakyourankles Nah don’t let me discourage you; I only said that because your GPA seemed a bit low for your major. But I barely have any idea what I’m talking about since I’m applying for Fall 2017 as well and haven’t even seen your essays or anything like that. You also have a lot of things going for you including TAP.
You know I’ve been reading threads from last year and have seen a lot of kids get accepted with really low GPAs, missing prereqs, etc. The dream is alive.
@cmdchavezz Well their official recommendation is to find an overarching theme that connects both of your majors; I don’t have TAP so I haven’t really put much thought into those sorts of questions. For people like @Breakyourankles that would be hard advice to follow since his interests are so diverse, and in his case I would just say to go for the gold and focus on his first choice.
Just submitted my app and i wanna cry. I’m so relieved and happy but also so anxious. I just know that I’m going to be so stressed out until march
@cmdchavezz I feel you. It feels so weird to have the application submitted and everything done. I’m not looking forward to the nerve wracking 4 month wait…
Does anyone know if decisions really come out around march though or is that just freshman applicants? When transfer decisions were released this year wasn’t it like late April?
Did anyone have trouble separating their paragraphs on the application? When I save and submit, all my words just get compacted together…
@gosteelers123abc Yea I noticed that; I used double spaces so they compacted to single spaces :3
@mightyMETA haha same here. I still couldn’t figure out how to indent them unfortunately. Hopefully my denial from every UC is not because I couldn’t figure out how to indent my essays lol
does anyone know what the difference is between the IGETC and the UC general education requirement? I thought the UC general education requirement was the IGETC…

I followed a UC pathway but am one course short from completing it… should I still select it?
I thought they were the same thing too haha. Does it ask what path you took in the application? I’m almost done with my application and haven’t seen that anywhere…
@rainbubble exactly! it really is nervewracking. and also my mistake, transfer decisions come out late april. i think the 26th according to another thread i saw.
This may have been asked already, but does applying to a lot of UCs hinder your chances in any way? For example, assuming I would have gotten accepted to both UCLA and UCB, would one of them reject me if they were confident I would choose the other school?
@annbern no, but if you’re overqualified and they figure that you won’t go to their school, then they might wait list you. That’s not really a problem with UCLA/UCB though.
@annbern … and in regard to the above post remark by @justinmega1 , seldom anyone is overqualified for those two schools anyway!
Guys!! If i took four years of foreign language in high school, where do I indicate that I finished that part of IGETC?
“You have indicated that you are applying as a Junior level transfer student. The number of units you’ve reported (45.5 semester units/68.2 quarter units) does not meet the minimum required for the level you selected. The minimum number of units required for your level is 60 semester units/90 quarter units.”
This does not take into account units from AP courses correct?
I told myself I would never create an account on this site because it’s too discouraging, but I’m not ready to spend the next 6 months panicking. okie dokie.
UCLA BusEcon 2 year Transfer from CCC
Alt Major: Anthro (no prereqs done, might take an intro anthro class in the spring depending on what you guys say)
UC GPA: 3.55 (if I can nail my Calc 2 final this week and get an A)
Major GPA: 3.51
IGETC: Completed
TAP: Completed
Prereqs: Complete by spring 2017, only thing I’m missing is Accounting Honors(was not offered in the fall)
Two ARs: one was a GE, the other was major prep-retaken for an A.
ECs:
-Worked 2 jobs, 50+/week in spring/summer 2016 while taking 20/14 units, respectively
-Now work 30 hours/week at a bank, promoted within 6 months with the firm, plus an internship with a real estate broker/loan officer while taking 21 units(3 of which are accelerated courses)
-parents are separated, responsible for about 5 siblings/cousin as a fill-in parent on a daily basis
-dad lost his job in my first semester of college, 50% income loss (which is why i had to pick up so many jobs)
I did list all my volunteer experience/awards from high school(it was a lot), because I felt I needed to justify that I’ve always been super involved and active, so I replaced volunteering with working. Had a few counselors read over my essays + a UCLA RA, 8.5/10 essays? Theme was resilience, lack of support system, upward trend in everything.
Other schools: UCI (didn’t tag), counselors are having me regard it as a backup school. my CCC is in Irvine.
help. i’m going to go nuts. correction. already going nuts.
@UCmethere Definitely take a course in anthropology if you can. You completed TAP, so your alternate major will be considered if you don’t get into the more impacted one.
