Do you think I got rejected because of my classes in progress?
Or is it because I took Calculus 1 at UCSD and Calculus 2 at my current community college?

Pretty sad. haha. But its okay!! Probably going UCSD or UCI

@babybear232 I got wait listed and I’m finishing up two prereqs for my major currently- my counselor said that it’s likely they rejected students who weren’t completely done before spring if their majors are highly impacted, even though they’ve let that go in previous years.

@amunroeee Do you think it will be the same for UCB? :frowning:
I also did TAP for UCLA and was still rejected haizz
Thankss!!

Accepted! Still shocked from last night.

Accepted: UCI, UCLA, SJSU, Sac State, Chico State, Cal Poly Pomona, SFSU, CSUCI,
Denied: Cal Poly SLO (still salty about this lol)
Waiting on Berkeley tomorrow
68 units completed
12 units this semester

Not sure how I got in but I’ll see you all on May 13th! Go Bruins!

@amunroeee I think because you have TAP, if you don’t get off the waitlist you still have a chance to appeal. Your GPA + TAP, idk they possibly f’ed up and will realize that if you bring it to their attention. If your grades are high in the prereqs, you could mention that as well because…I’m shocked.

@babybear232 I think maybe you got rejected because you didn’t have 60 units by time of application. Also you haven’t mentioned extracurriculars so that could add to it. But also business Econ is a highly impacted major and plenty of people with 4.0s who had completely everything got rejected also. Can’t hurt to appeal if you feel like the decision was unjustified and you have done something recently to add to your resume.

Hi all –

I got accepted to UCLA yesterday, and am waiting on UCB tomorrow. I’ve seen people say in these threads that, often, applicants will get accepted to either UCLA or UCB, but not both.

Is this true in any capacity? In other words, do the UCs talk to each other? Or is their decision process completely separate? Is there still a possibility to get accepted into both?

Thanks!

Have you ever done summer sessions there before? Im new with this whole thing so i’m wondering what classes i should take over summer and what session is the best and when i should apply lol

Has anyone figured out the GPA ?? What is the GPA that needs to be maintained this semester ??

ACCEPTED!

Are we able to take summer classes? I wasn’t under the impression that we could only start classes fall of 2017. Also, has anyone made a UCLA acceptance thread for transfers.

And does anybody know when we can sign up for orientation? Is it only after we complete our SIR?

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE NEW BRUINS! 8-CLAP!

Appeal if you have compelling new evidence since TAU.

CHECK YOUR ADMISSION CONTRACT CAREFULLY! You must meet all the conditions for your acceptance to go through.

If for some reason you aren’t able to meet the contract after Spring grades, figure out how you might fix (a summer class?), contact Admissions and admit to your inability to meet the criteria, mention your plan and ask for further direction. For example, if you need to add/make up a class during the summer, register for the class, send in the proof of the receipt and they will create a new contract for you. They are strict but I have seen some still being accepted after not being able to get Bs instead of Cs. Some have had to make up a course during the summer.

Summer courses: you are allowed to take summer courses. Take one, maybe two in two sessions at UCLA if you have the time. A 10 week class is compressed into 6 weeks. You can still take CCC courses too if you need to. Also check the other UCs if you live near one, and whether that course will transfer.

Transfer Bruin Day: Attend and meet each other! You might find a potential roommate (you may need to exchange SIDs) or study partners in your major. http://bruinday.ucla.edu/ Meet your fellow CC’ers. Some places to meet: Rendezvous Cafe on the hill, Student Union food court; You can take the tour and walk around with your new friends even if they are in different groups. No apartment tours available.

Want to change majors or double major? Possible but it all depends on the one you’re changing/adding to. Try making an appointment with an advisor, but they may still not want to see a potential student until the Fall. You will need to take a copy of your unofficial transcripts.

Go here for your next steps.
https://www.admission.ucla.edu/NewBruins/NSG_Transfer.htm

Directions to “SIR” – https://www.admission.ucla.edu/newbruins/sir.htm

Transcript deadlines – note, send them in at least twice.

By June 1st through Fall grades.

By July 1st through Spring grades.

If you attend summer classes, make sure you send in transcripts as soon as you receive your grades.

If you completed IGETC, make sure your CCC sends the certification in. Each CCC processes this differently.

MAKE SURE THEY RECEIVE THE TRANSCRIPTS before those dates. There have been a couple of CC’ers whose admission was rescinded because transcripts weren’t received. Seriously.

Transfer student orientations are full day in person events scheduled starting July (there were about 6 sessions offered). Try to sign up for the earliest time slot at the opening of the sign up period. Plan on taking a tablet or laptop to use to sign up for classes that evening. You will be there through at least 7pm. https://www.admission.ucla.edu/NewBruins/Orientation_Transfer.htm Take a copy of your unofficial transcripts with you. Yes you can sign up for 3 major classes but if you are at all concerned about the quarter system or you work, etc, start with 2 major classes and an elective.

What is a DAR? A DAR is a Degree Audit Report found in your myUCLA, which is a record of all your classes taken, at all CCs and will contain your future UCLA classes too. This report will show how each class you take, meets your major’s and college’s requirements. This will be ready just before your transfer orientation date.

@LynAmmo Thanks for making me feel like I’m not crazy! I felt like I was whining yesterday when I emailed them basically asking if there was a mistake with my application. Luckily, I’m close to my school counselor who is head of the honors program here and she reached out to her contact at UCLA to see what she could find out about my wait list decision. No response yet.
She did say that UCLA is sensitive to the fact the Northern Cali students often choose UCB, so that could’ve been a factor.
I started working on my wait list statement for them, but for now, fingers crossed for UCB!

@Oldhopeful nice to see you in here! How’s it going? Hope all is well

@Happy2Help Thank you so much for the information! I was wondering about how many transcripts we needed to send. Do you know how long the transfer orientations are? I know some freshmen orientations are 3-4 days long. Are transfer orientations anything like that?

@amunroeee Yeah like with UCSD’s situation where apparently they rejected a bunch of high GPAs to protect their yield and ranking if they assumed they’d get into UCLA or UCB. Is UCLA your first choice or are you waiting for Berkeley?

@area21 send in one set of transcripts from each school you attended after high school, even if they were from years ago. June 1st is your first target date, but I’d recommend mid-May. You may need to send in AP scores too if you are planning to get credit for them.

After your Spring semester/quarter, you will need to send them in again, before July 1st.

The most important thing is to make sure they received your transcript, not that the CC sent it. Admissions must acknowledge that they received it by the deadline days.

The transfer orientation takes the entire day but you have down time throughout the day. I believe they offered an overnight session a few years ago.

ETA: If you attended multiple colleges, then all transcripts should be sent by June 1st. For the college(s) you attended in the Spring, you need to send transcripts for those grades by July 1st.

Hi guys, I am trying to get some help for my friend. He is in great trouble. Can anyone reply me if you know something about the situation?
Rejected

Major: Econ
GPA: 4.00
Pre-reqs: Done
IGETC: By spring 2017- 2 courses
Essays: Pretty good. done internship and volunteers
Accepted: NONE!!!
Denied: UCLA UCSD UCSB and Waitlisted in UC DAVIS…
Waiting on Berkeley…
97 transferable units.
p.s He didn’t report the pre-English courses before EWRT1A (but they are all non-transferable)

He is really desperate now. Totally do not understand why this happen, but I believe there’s must be application problems. Can anyone offer him some advice and help? Thank you so much,

@VivianChy The problem is you have to report all the classes even if those are non-transferable. Don’t know if they found out your friend did not report all the classes he took, but that might be a reason.
