I think you have great chances to get in. Your GPA is very high, and you have so many strong EC’s. I don’t really know anything about your major. Is it competitive at UCLA? And what is the ave GPA for psychology?
Hello everyone! I would like for you all to chance me.
CCC In-State Transfer
Major: Political Science
GPA: 3.95
Major GPA: 4.0
IGETC: Currently finishing up, just one biology course that I need.
Major Prereqs: All completed
Educational Prep Programs: UC Berkeley TAP, Starting Point Mentorship, Experience Berkeley, TRIO, EOPS
(Yes, I did make my application a little more geared towards Berkeley…)
Community Service: A Time for Grieving & Healing (community based organization for victims of gang violence), Primary Caretaker for my younger brother, Ambassador for Experience Berkeley, part of a local grassroots organization, part of an organization that distributes necessities to the homeless
Work Experience: Political Consultant, student worker for my community college’s foundation, UC Santa Cruz academic intern- tutor at local high schools, elementary school academic tutor, crew member at local pizzeria
I’m too lazy to state everything else but basically all of my sections are full lol.
I feel as if my personal insight responses were pretty strong, went over them various times with an admissions reader helping me through the process.
I don’t know when it happened, but just checked my app status and it’s now under review
@jjcc77 I just checked mine. It says under review too. However, yesterday it was just “application received”
@masechka1988 I guess the update happened sometime between yesterday and today. Just a waiting game now…
@jjcc77 yeap…the hardest part
@masechka1988 Yes, psych is really competitive. I think it’s the second most impacted major? The average GPA is 3.83. My GPA is over the average but I’m a little worried because my school did not offer TAP.
i updated my TAU at like 11:30pm last night (1/31) so it still counts as on time right? i had to make multiple updates because our semester just started and i realized id be dropping a few classes (nothing that negatively affects my application though, it was just exercise and an elective i didnt need)
but i havent dropped those classes at my school yet since the first one meets on friday and im still not sure if ill drop it or not (most likely will), since our drop deadline is next week. will this affect my application at all? they dont look at your actual classes/transcripts at your school until they ask you to send em stuff right? i will be dropping them but as of right now im still enrolled
i ask because i see people say that their application now says “under review” even though it was still 1/31 (not midnight yet in PST) so will they see the updates i made?
@otoribashi maybe you should call ucla. I completed the TAU on 1/4 so that’s probably why my status changed. I’m sure yours will change sometime this week now that the update has closed
Hey guys! So I might have messed up. I don’t think my IGETC is complete because I didn’t take any foreign courses in the US. However, I have taken it in another country (Spanish for 2 semesters), and I also have another primary language (not English), which my CC, unfortunately, couldn’t test me for. Does this mean I’m doomed? :\
@jae2017 Did your CC certify your IGETC? There should be a verification done. I had to fill out a verification form as well as provide my HS transcript & transcripts from other CC’s.
Hi, guys!
So I just finished taking my last English class and I think that I might get a C. If this is the case, will I have met the requirement? I have heard conflicting information and I want to make sure that I am on track. Thanks, guys!
Disregard the last post I made. I got it!
@jae2017 if you have two years of high school instruction in a language other than English that fulfills IGETC. Just bring your high school transcript to your CC advisor. Also, you don’t get certified until end of next spring.
@jjcc77 well i hadn’t checked my ucla status until yesterday (2/1) so im not sure if they started reviewing it before i updated it on 1/31
wasn’t the deadline at midnight for TAU?
@otoribashi they probably haven’t started reviewing , probably just getting ready to review
where are people seeing their status change from received to under review? mine just says the date the apps were sent.
@jae2017 thank you!
Was just accepted to one of the schools on my list, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. The other schools I applied to are USC, Stanford and obviously UCLA. I know it is probably a shot in the dark for me to get accepted to UCLA coming from a 4 year university instead of a CCC, but every year, a handful of students from my university (University of San Diego, not UCSD) get accepted to UCLA, so maybe there is a chance lol. I am guessing that the next school I will get a decision from will be UCLA because they apparently try to send them out in late April. USC and Stanford send them out in May. Good luck everybody!
