FALL 2017 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

i know some people don’t have their major anymore on the email. But are there anyone who has a white bar where their major used to be or if their major is still seen. It will be greatly appreciated for those who don’t have their major appeared anymore.

@JaketheSnake13 is your major gone?

My major is still listed, and under that there’s a little note that says “Please inform anyone whose major disappeared that they are vigorously rejected with malice and scorn too”

@“osazuwa ogbeide” yeah, there aren’t very many :frowning: The lack of diversity is my only Con for the school though. I’m used to being the only person that looks like me no matter where I go. I fall under that category where people just come up to me and say “okay I think you’re xyz but you also look like abc…what are you” and i’m like… can’t anyone just start a conversation by saying “hi” anymore? lol

my major is gone as well if I recall last time I applied my major was there can’t quite remember

Ya mine is gone too. My professor is also responsible for the Honors Program so I’ll talk to him about it and update you guys.

@mightyMETA that’s totally weird because mine now says, “I can not believe he wasted our time in even applying.”

@JaketheSnake13 Idk what you mean by a white bar. My webpage is a white backdrop now with the font being black., I never paid attention to the intricacies of the page…but with what @mightymeta is saying, I wouldn’t read too much into it. I just think this is way too early to look for “signs”, especially since it sounds like we are all in the same boat. Either way let me know what you hear.

Can confirm that major is gone. I’m not sure if it was there before, but it’s making me unnecessarily paranoid.

I’ve never seen anything there either… I wish you could insert a screenshot.

@4UCBClay if it’s non/transferable, they will ignore it.

I asked the UCLA transfer representative yesterday about the “disappering major” phenomenon. He checked my application and said that it was nothing at all just a system thing. So don’t worry folks stay focused on your final semester and keep kicking butt

Thanks axoltyl my professor said the same

@UCLAFFF question, is the peer pressure to be super fashionable and trendy big there?

i dont know if you’re a girl or not but when i visited i noticed many looked straight out of the trendy chicks you’d see on twitter and tumblr that are super into makeup and “feeling myself” and they wear chokers when they’re suddenly popular and that sup hipster thing going on.

im not into any of that at all, quite simple and plain really and luckily my current CCC is very laidback in that regard but i do remember in middle school that it was a pressure and in high school too in a way although i wasn’t involved in it, i noticed all the other girls were, so i noticed that people ended up grouping themselves in that way (the basic average nerds, the hipster trendy “fashionistas”)

is it easy to make friends if you’re not one of those cool trendy hip twitter/tumblr famous teens? is everyone super materialistic? do they do drugs/smoke/hookah/weed ect.? is it still possible to have a fun social life if you’re not into that, or into raves and all those crazy clubbing music events?

@otoribashi I’m female and that’s why I chose Cal over UCLA. I felt just what you felt when I visited. Just a general vibe. I’m sure it isn’t everywhere, though, and you can find your place. Fwiw, a friend of mine at Cal felt the same way.

@ohm888 glad im not the only one who felt like that, haha! it feels a bit odd even speaking about it but it’s a concern i had and am glad im not alone on that lol. it’s funny though because when i visited cal i felt there was a similar pressure, although instead of being the trendy fashionista thing, it was to be “hipster” and vintage thirft-store-ish. although i have seen more people be more average in their dorms or common rooms there whereas in ucla it seemed people were dressed up even on a sunday night around campus. plus added with the general pressure of LA to look like a model or aspiring vlogger.

@otoribashi there’s a different pressure at Berkeley. A lot of competitiveness. At least I feel that. And everyone gets butt hurt over everything. It’s a gauntlet walking through Sproul. But I like it in general. I think Berkeley is more accepting of individual quirks.

I know this is a tad late considering apps were due November/January, but chancing me would be great
