Fall 2018 Transfers

@WordSmithNY Housing has gotten a lot better. For sophomores, there is east campus and a lot of other housing options. We did have a few mice, but they are trying hard to take care of that. I have not seen any cockroaches. The social scene is what you can probably expect from a college. The majority of the parties freshman and sophomore year seem to be frat parties. After the sophomore year, most people move off campus and are more settled/have their parties. The frats are fun but, like any school, it gets old after some time. The general problem I have with AU is that no one likes it, but they also are not willing to do anything about it. Its a lot of complaining that happens with little action albeit I think this is something that is present at most colleges.

I am so fricken stressed about this it is insane. I’ve already planned on covering up a portion of my screen when I get the email, as to not reveal the subject line (because you’ll either get “good news” or something else–a giveaway!) I wish more people posted on this thread, the reading helps relax me a little bit. The last few days have gone by so slowly!

@Brechenville I just expect to get denied. So no worries, only pleasant surprise.

I feel your pain @Brechenville . I think it would be more fun if people posted more

@mualphabot I was fairly confident a month ago–now I am certain of rejection. @medfulofmind that’s what I’m trying to do! There isn’t a W&M transfer thread on reddit unfortunately. Does anyone know when we will hear?

@Brechenville I’m expecting us to receive decisions Thursday or Friday, same as previous years. The website says we will know by early May, so it makes sense.

I agree with @WordSmithNY

I am betting we will hear this Friday. In previous years, decisions have been released around 5:00 PM. Unfortunately, I’m six hours ahead of the United States, so I have to wait the ENTIRE day. Haha.

We’re on the home stretch now, folks! Keep your spirits up - don’t get inside your own head. We got this!

Also, I’m a bit disappointed in their admissions blog this year. In previous years they have given really great insight in to what the admissions team has been up to regarding transfers and just general advice based around a current applicant. Here’s hoping we get an update early this week.

@XxStudentXx26 yeah definitely! Even with the threads it’s not the best as it has been in the past which kind of sucks. But I feel like we may hear Tuesday. The earliest atleast because they are really great at sending a small pool of decisions earlier than the may time frame

By the way The subject will either be “Good News” followed by “Congratulations!” or “William & Mary Admission Decision.”

Ugh. I forgot to include some activities on my common app. I don’t know if I should email the dean of transfer admissions like “oh btw I did these things !!1!1”

I’m not sure on the correct course of action for that @Brechenville

I would search the ‘transfer’ section of the CC forums, or do a quick Google search to find an appropriate solution.

@Brechenville I would submit that information if you end up being waitlisted. They probably have already finalized most all decisions by now.

I wonder if your intended major holds any weight on your application, for instance, would an in demand major be held in higher regard than one that’s not? I’m also super tense about my GPA, I know a 3.5 is competitive, and I meet that, but what does it even MEAN to be competitive!!! What does w&m want from me!! Also I’m relatively sure that we are going to hear back on Thursday or Friday of this week, and it’s totally because I spend all my time reading old posts on W&M’s blog lmao.

I decided not to send any email, but I have drafted one in the event that I am waitlisted. I realized that it may reflect badly on me if I sent the email. I should have thought of it 2 months ago! Thank you, @XxStudentXx26 and @LookAtMe .

Welp, Sunday is almost over. One day closer!

Probably a wise decision, @Brechenville

Don’t overthink it, @farshir . You’re going to drive yourself crazy, haha. A 3.5 is competitive, yes. However, people have, and will, get in with much lower. It’s all about your essay and having a compelling reason to transfer.

Happy Monday, everyone!

In all honesty everyone has probably a better chance then me on getting in (since I was already accepted then revoked) I’m like going to be scared to check my email after 4 now all week since it could be any day now!

don’t throw in the towel just yet @medfulofmind !! I’m hopeful things will turn out well for you!

and thank you @XxStudentXx26 !! but tbh I think I’ve already driven myself crazy

@medfulofmind You have already proven once you are a worthy candidate to W&M. And, if you can do it once, then you can do it again. They understand unfortunate situations happen to even good people. Don’t dwell on it. I actually have a good feeling about your acceptance

And fair enough, @farshir. I completely understand your comment about reading through all the blogs. I have to stop myself from doing it as well.

Thanks for the encouragement! @XxStudentXx26 @farshir I can’t wait for this to all be over with. Does everyone have back up schools?
