Fall 2018 Transfers

I’m only applying for W&M! I quite like where I’m at with my state school now, and if I don’t get in, it’s not the end of the world. I will, however, focus on top schools for my graduate degree. What about you, @medfulofmind?

Just VCU. Though I kind of wish I would have applied to Virginia tech too. And I agree with finding a top graduate school! @XxStudentXx26

If anyone gets waitlisted, I read some threads ago that one person wrote a letter of continue interest. They said the dean called her a week later asking if she wanted off and that they took that inconsideration!

Yes, most definitely! They strongly encourage to write a letter of continued interest if you are wait-listed.

I applied to W&M only, as I believe it to be the only school that meets my needs, exactly as they are. I didn’t have a phenomenal GPA in HS, but I do in college. Some of the classes I’ve taken this semester have weird names, so I worry that WM admissions will think they’re easy. So far, they’ve actually been quite difficult.

I understand about wanting a school that meets your needs. I can get in-state tuition at W&M, so that was a huge part of my decision. Most of the other schools I was looking at were private institutions, and being from a small town in the Midwest, that was a bit out-of-reach, price wise.

That makes sense. Attending WM would save me $15,000 a year, OOS. So, I’d save $45,000 over three years. I like to think of it like I’m getting paid to go to WM over my current school, which is a great rationalization because I prefer WM! This is all assuming I actually get in, though.

Of course! Best of luck @Brechenville. That’s a good chunk of money saved.

Did I note that the honors director at my school and teacher (who’s class I failed) knows the dean of admission? They both wrote in to the dean trying to help me out and vouch for me, which gives me some type of tiny hope I could get in again …

@medfulofmind that should certainly help, especially if it explains why you failed the class. Does anyone think we will find out tomorrow?

@Brechenville I just got an email back from the dean, I was hoping she would say they will be releasing everything soon but she didn’t unfortunately:/

I just got an email from the school, and it appears they will be out later in the week.

Huh, I did not receive such an email. @kkriley1027 you mind screenshottin it so the forum can take a peek?

I emailed them personally, namely Whitney L. Pitschke, to discuss a mistake on my application. I’d prefer not to share based on what information is also in the email, but the conclusion of the email has led me to believe it will be late this week.

Like on a weekend or Friday more sure? @kkriley1027

@kkriley1027 Ohhh, I didn’t know it was a personal email, sorry. I thought it was a broad email from the school that was meant for everyone. Gotcha.

Yeah, I still think it will be later in the week, unfortunately. This gives them a chance to send decisions at close of business on Friday, and gives us an entire weekend to process the decision before we bombard their office with telephone calls. Hah.

@XxStudentXx26 perhaps! Although it should be noted that Fall Transfer decisions came out April 26th last year, which was a Wednesday. I’m expecting Thursday/Friday regardless!

Let the wait begin!

It’s only Tuesday and I get more nervous every second. I’m more nervous than I was yesterday! I just mad when my friend who is also applying to W&M scared because they totally forgot that decisions are right around the corner.
