Fall 2018 UC Transfer Thread. Stats and Decisions

@laurelru thanks, only time will tell… painstakingly slow time! And cheers to being a nontraditional student! There seems to be a really great batch of applicants on this page, and I’m hoping that we all receive some good news soon

3.6 GPA, global Studies.
TAP and IGETC complete. I will additionally have two AA-Ts in sociology and political science at the end of spring.
Parent, non traditional student, and Afghanistan war veteran. Volunteer for IRC, Food Not Bombs (Grass roots homeless advocacy group), and Red Cross. Accepted for the 2018 Salzburg, Austria Global Citizenship Conference scholarship. I was also accepted for UCB summer experience program in 2017. Full time work includes Lyft driving and construction in the summer. I am also a returning student to California CC.

Accepted to UCSB today. Surprised the decision was posted today

3.94 GPA total
did 1 semester (16 units) at SDSU then left to finish at CC

kinda nervous because conflicting info from counselors caused me to drop some classes I supposedly didn’t need. Also wasn’t certain if all my credits were transferable even after due diligence.

Also applied: UCLA UCB UCSD UCI

accepted to ucsb psych today. 3.8 gpa.
also accepted to ucm and am nervously waiting on ucla.

Accepted to ucsb for global studies.

UCSB contacted me asking for unofficial transcripts. Posted those a few days ago. Is anyone elses portal down right now?

Posting for my kid (not on CC)

I am quite anxious for those schools that I applied will be admitted or denied. Do I have higher chance to get into one of those schools? I really want to go to UCB or UCLA

@Kevin19970520 you have great stats but the fact that you’re out of state definitely complicates things, UCs give priority to Californian cc students first and foremost

GPA - 4.00
Major - Sociology
IGETC - done
Prerequisites are done
ECs - pretty good i guess haha, officer of two clubs, working, other clubs from high school
TAG: - UCI
Applied to: UCI, UCSB, UCSD, UCD, UCB, UCLA
Acceptances: UCI, UCSB!

So I’m wondering if UCs consider your high school transcript at all if it has college courses.
I took 2 years of college courses starting from junior year of high school and had a terrible GPA. However, this was in Washington state and only a few of my courses transferred to my current CC.
So i’m not sure if UCs will look at that as high school gpa since it was taken for high school credit and only really pay attention to my current California CC, or if they’ll take both into consideration…
Without my former college, my GPA is at a 3.92, but with it factored in, it comes down to a 3.34.
I applied for psych at UCM, UCSB and UCLA, and so far have gotten into UCM and UCSB, but UCLA is the one I am hoping for most and that old transcript will really make the difference. Does anyone know how UCLA looks at this?

Applied: UCLA, UCB, UCD, UCI, UCSB (accepted)
but really only hoping for UCLA

Major: English with a Music Industry Minor (only at UCLA)
GPA: 3.94
IGETC: Finished
Prereqs: Finishing this semester
TAG: UCSB
TAP: No
ECs: Not too much in college- working 28+ hours/week, extensive volunteer in high school

@yungmeriko They do not look at HS transcripts at all and you are not required to report them on the application. They only care about your college course work.

Age 28:
CC Transfer
Philosophy/ Political Science - Public Policy
GPA : 3.2 (Academic Renewal. I had a bunch of W’s and F’s) (Obvious change in recent grade trend)
EC’S: Philosophizing, Job
Basically my admissions essays were full of my own philosophies.
IGETC: Missing language requirement - Still have general ed completed
PREP: Complete for both first and second majors (4.0 Philosophy, 3.33 Poli Sci)

Schools Applied: UCSD, UCSB, UCLA, UCB

Waitlisted: UCSB 04/13/18
Still waiting: UCSD, UCLA, UCB

My second application year. Hopefully I won’t have to go back to the CC for another year.
^:)^

Hey guys! Good luck to everyone with decisions. I am applying to Berkeley and UCLA, I have a 3.94 and my major is Sociology. All my pre-reqs are done and I did IGETC. My question is… I forgot to put that I was on the Deans list for the last few semesters… is that going to hurt me? Thx!

@College4Fun Is your GPA a 3.2 with academic renewal? I know that academic renewal removes old grades from your transcript, so they don’t factor into your GPA.

A philosophy major was admitted to UCLA a couple of years ago with a 3.14. Good luck!

@goldencub Yeah, it’s a 3.2 after AR. That 3.14 gives me some hope.

Good luck everyone! The UCLA portal is down right now and will be back up later today.

Hey everyone!! I was a Fall 2016 transfer to UCLA and with decisions coming out in a couple hours, I just wanted to stop by and say good luck!!! And that even if you don’t get in, you’re still amazing and will thrive at any school you go to!

Also, if any history majors have any last minute questions, feel free to ask me!

Anyone else sitting around waiting for the ucla portal to update?
