I was thinking of taking an upper division political science class along with my last pre-reqs (either PS30 or 50 and Stats 10) and was wondering if this is advised even though I have not technically entered the major?

also, do upper division classes tend to fill up quickly? or would I be better off using my priority for either PS30/50 and Stats 10?

Upper division classes are generally smaller than lower division classes, so you may be more inclined to use priority.

I've had classes (all upper division) with LOTS of second years. I don't really see why you couldn't do that if you think you can handle it (really...for stuff like poli sci the classes arent going to be much more noticably difficult than lower divs). Just be careful for classes that only allow declared majors to enroll.

It really varies from class to class. Classes seem to fill up mostly based on class size/professor ranking, regardless of whether or not they are Upper or Lower div. Since upper divs are generally smaller, they might fill up a bit quicker. Last quarter (as a second year) I took 4 upper divs and got into them all without being waitlisted and without priority, but in something like Poli Sci this may be a bit harder. I wouldn't use your priority on Stats 10 because there are 4 different lectures of 128 each. I've heard by word of mouth that PS30/50 fill up quickly, though.
