Fall Courses getting full already (on TritonLink), what do we incoming students do?

I’m noticing in the UCSD “Course Search” that many Fall courses (esp. Social Science courses) are now full in enrollment.... Unfortunately due to our new-student status we won't be able to register for any course until July/August Orientation at the earliest.....Don't they realize this?

Will the enrollment limits be raised; If not, what is the criteria to be accepted into a course of the Waitlist?

They reserve seats for you guys and will open up more when it comes time to for you guys to register.

As for waitlist… the order of the waitlist is the order people are accepted to get into the class as more spaces open up.

(I’m also a new student) If I am able to enroll in the class of fall2011 in one section, can I also change the section which is now already full at that time ? Or I should drop now and enter to the waitlist ??

@Veritas, don’t worry! This happens every year haha. As Avib0y said, there will be more seats opening up closer to registration time. The waitlist is also a great way to go (as long as you’re not like, #50 on the waitlist). There is no criteria to be accepted into a waitlist - you just click the “waitlist” button and as spots open up, the waitlist moves.

@thitirat - I’m not sure I understand the question - but you can only enroll in one section at a time. So you can either take your chances on one section’s waitlist, or you can enroll in a section that is not full. Not both.

i have a question, so right now, waitlists/more spots wont open up until the freshman enrollment approaches (i mean, like…for non-incoming freshman)?

As I recall, during the week long period of enrollment for freshmen, no one else is allowed to enroll until the period is over. And the section spaces don’t increase until there are large waitlists, right in the middle of enrollment and all the way up until classes start, because they don’t want upper classmen to be forcing freshmen out of too many classes.
