Fall Grades?

After I turned in my application I read that we had to report our fall grades. Does anyone know if they have a huge impact on the application process. I know if you get terrible grades they will affect you negatively but can they affect you positively? I think my gpa will jump from 3.825 to 3.875 after the fall but is there really a big difference between the two? I'm kind of hoping it will help but whatever, does anyone know?

depends on what classes u took?
whats ur major?

There is not a big difference between those two GPA's.

Focus on something else. Like having fun. :D

How bout going from a 3.79 to a 3.82? Big difference?

That's actually a smaller difference than the 3.82 to the 3.87...

no, youre are too close. it wont matter.

for me, its going to be positive, because im currently retaking a class i failed in my first semester. my gpa is going from 2.9 to 3.35. thats considerable. :)

What about a drop of about 0.03? Do you guys think that will affect anything?

So like from a 3.87 to a 3.84. Doubt it?

I posted my actual GPA in the Official UC thread, but its basically a 3.79 now and after fall will be anywhere from 3.79-3.83.

No. No. And No.

You guys need to focus on something real. Miniscule differences in GPA are not important. Despite what some obsessive types here on cc might write.

Schools are not going to judge your application on GPA differences taken to two decimal places.

I hope this thread is mostly for laughs at this point ;).

my major is impacted, psychology, I'm taking 5 classes in fall 2 honors 2 prereq and 1 B.S. I think you guys are right it probably doesn't matter unless you do terribly in fall.

"GPA differences taken to two decimal places."

that's 2 sig figs

there should be a difference between 3.79 and 3.81

SCOooooooooore!

There is. 0.02. I think that if your GPA plummets from 3.81 to 3.79, you should drastically revise your target list of schools downward. If it skyrockets from 3.79 to 3.81, you will get in anywhere and everywhere that you apply.

Work on those GPAs! Get them up 0.02 points. You will never regret it.

^Sarcasm? Yes?

grade trends matter more. if your gpa went from a 3.8 to 3.84. and summer grades was a 4.0, then fall was a 4.0 and the unit load hasn't changed, then that's a boost. considering you had say a 3.75 in the spring term prior to the summer 4.0 and fall 4.0.

okay, say may gpa went from a 3.3 to 3.5? They dont make their decision before fall grades have been received, correct? Fall grades count as much as any other semester, right? (atleast thats what im hoping)

bumpity bump

hmmm. I seriously believe there's a difference between 3.79 and 3.81.
jmho. do your own DD don't invest on my opinion :P
