Fall Transfer 2011. Rejected! D;

Hey guys, i checked my AIS today and found out that i was rejected. SHAG!

Your application for admission to Texas A&M University has been received and reviewed thoroughly by those most concerned with your admission. After carefully considering your application file, we regret to inform you that we cannot offer you admission at this time.

We will reconsider your application for fall admission if the following conditions are met:

-we receive an official transcript with your current semester's spring grades in the Office of Admissions by June 1, 2011 and

-space is still available in your desired degree program for the Fall 2011 semester

So i was wondering do you know whats the available space for aerospace engineering. I will have a 3.5+ or maybe a 3.6 after getting my spring grades.

I looked at the major website and it states : " Those applicants indicating Engineering as their first choice major who are not admitted to their requested major may be offered alternate engineering major(s)." Does it apply to me?

What should i do after i send in my spring grades? just wait? or should i call them?

I also applied for Economics as a second major choice, but i found out that i cant put economics as second choice after my application is closed.

GIVE ME SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!

Getting a transfer into engineering is going to be very difficult. They reach capacity very fast and a select few of the best students are going to get in. I don’t know the answers to your questions as I have never transferred before, but I do know that your situation is definitely very difficult and I hope that someone else here will answer your questions soon.

I am transfer and haven’t got any response yet . Anyone know when the letters will be sent out?

@ aGGie - Thanks for your comments. I hope so too

@China - Check your AIS. What step are you in? It would be posted on AIS first.

I am still on step 2. But I called them and they were like they just need several days to process all my docs so I probably have to wait. Do any of u have this kinda situation now or before? What are my chances with3.3gpa president of an organization and work exp and intern and major in accounting

3.3 gpa for transfering into Mays…I was rejected last fall with a 3.86 and missing the BLAW class. I’m trying again and I’m only half confident because my gpa fell to a 3.78.

police: My son applied last fall as an ASEN transfer and got the same initial response you did. He sent his transcripts after the spring semester and was immediately accepted to the ASEN program. He is now happily in his second semester of his junior year at TAMU.

@TexaCo - Do i need to do anything after i send in my spring transcripts? What is ASEN program? Do you have any links for me? What was his major and GPA and stats? I hope i will get in…

I don’t think they need blaw and u don’t think 3.3 is a bad gap anyway

ASEN = Aerospace Engineering. Just make sure you have the required transferable hours. I believe my son’s GPA after last spring’s semester was 3.8. Once he sent his transcript, all he did was wait for the school to respond. IIRC he heard back rather quickly.

@ TexaCo - Hmm, Ok. Thanks! I hope i will be accepted after i send in my spring transcript with a 3.6…

I was told by the PSC advisor that BLaw was somewhat important, after the second classes for ACCT, MATH and ECON. Also, the average gpa for transfer admits last year was a 3.76. Unless you are on the Blinn Team or something?..

@derekallen - Whats Blaw? Blinn team is waitlist right? I thought there is no waitlist for transfers? Sorry for the igonorent questions, i just moved to TX 1 and 1/2 years ago. I completed both ACCT, both ECON and Cal 1 and currently taking Cal 2. i completed 53 units but 43 which counts i think.

@everyone : What do you think of this question?

I looked at the major website and it states : " Those applicants indicating Engineering as their first choice major who are not admitted to their requested major may be offered alternate engineering major(s)." Does it apply to me?

Blinn team is not waitlist. Blinn Team is offered to freshmen who do not quite make the full admission to A&M.
[Texas A&M Blinn TEAM Program](http://blinnteam.tamu.edu/)

And yes - I believe the statement does apply to you.
Good luck - hopefully there will be space available

@Klparker - Thanks for the info. Should i call them to make sure it applies to me? or would it be useless to call now and wait till i get my spring grades.

A call never hurts when you have a question.

Police, I was holding a conversation with Chinalovesme right in the middle of the thread, about transfering into Mays. Lol.

There are no dumb questions…Blinn Team is a program actually with TAMU, where you agree to take classes at Blinn. If you make a certain GPA in the right classes, you earn full admission in your sophomore year. BLaw stands for Business Law…I am curious why you took all those business classes and you are applying for Engineering?

@Derekallen - Oh, well guess i am too freaked out to see properly. Lol. I know that Mays and Mccombs need high high GPAs. So i was intending to do an internal transfer after i get into either school, so yeah thats why i took those business courses. So those majors i applied for is just a “stepping stone?”

I wouldn’t use engineering as a stepping stone at all, unless I missed something. At both TAMU and UT, the engineering programs are really close seconds to the business programs as far as selectivity. Go for Gen Studies or something…

I cant go for general studies as i already have 53 credits. yeah i made a mistake to put engineering as 1st choice. i should put something easier. plus econ as second choice which is wont be counted by admissions. man i screwed it up
