Fall12, any progress in application?

I feel the same lindros, I have some plans for the summer and I’d like to know at least by end of march so I can make proper arrangements. I’ve seen quite a bit of GPA that were admitted as late as June and if CPP were to notice me that late, I’d rather just go to CSULB. I’ll try calling them later.

I’m not really sure about non-impacted majors but maybe I can offer some perspective. I’m transferring from a community college into the Animal Health Science major. The deadline to have transcripts in was February 10th. If all pre-requisites (both for CSU and the impacted major) have been met, then students are ranked by GPA and the top students are admitted. So I guess that would mean everyone in this major gets notified at the same time, once they’re done ranking everyone. I’m just really curious to know how many people they are actually accepting.

I saw someone else post in another thread who is also an AHS major, but is an incoming freshman - they got their admission decision in December! Stupid transfer procedures… I’m still waiting over here!

@soleilvie do you believe that’s how it works for freshman as in they tell you by major who is admitted?

@raindroprose For a non-impacted major, I don’t think so. I think they would look at applications by date the student applied and just make sure they meet the minimum requirement for GPA/SAT. Maybe they send out weekly decisions? My status went from “Ready for Review” to “Referred to Impacted Plan” so for impacted majors, people within that specific department would be looking at applications whereas a different group of people would look at applications for non-impacted majors.

For an impacted major, yeah I think they would pool all the freshman together, see what their stats are, then notify everyone at the same time. Impacted means there’s more people applying than they can let in so it wouldn’t really make sense for them to send out decisions on a daily basis or something. They would need to put everyone together, rank them somehow, then cut it off at some point. That being said, I think they must have a certain amount of freshman they let in for an impacted major, and a certain amount of transfers.

By the way, I’m making all these assumptions only based on the fact that a freshman Animal Health Science major got their decision in December but as a transfer for the same major, I’m still waiting. I could be totally wrong!

One thing I’m confused by is that in an email I got in January from the College of Ag (it’s like an electronic newsletter thing sent to Fall 2012 applicants) it says application decisions will be sent out in March. But according to that student I mentioned, they already got theirs. The deadline to submit SAT/ACT scores (for freshman, obviously) was January 31st. So say that student sent their scores in a few weeks before that deadline, if they’ve already been admitted, that kinda disproves my theory that they’re pooling all the freshman together (once deadlines have been passed), ranking, and cutting them off at some point.

I really need to stop thinking about this so much, haha. I hope you hear soon, in any case!

This is pertaining to Arch transfers, but anyways, I recently received an e-mail updating us on the admissions and its a good indication that were not going to find out if we got in for awhile :|…

“Dear Applicant:
The College of Environmental Design at California State Polytechnic University has not yet determined who will be admitted to its impacted Architecture program for Fall 2012. However, to assist potential transfer students who may want to apply for advanced studio standing, the College has scheduled a workshop to provide information on assembling a portfolio to submit for consideration for advanced placement in the architectural design sequence.
This session will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 4:00 PM in the ENV Atrium in Building 7 (please consult the University website for directions). Students are strongly encouraged to attend this session. Please note that this session is for information only. We will not have time to review individual portfolios. You should leave your portfolio at home.
We ask that those who plan to attend either reply to this email or call (909) 869-2670 to reserve a place. This is only to insure that the session does not become too large. We look forward to seeing you!
Sincerely,
Teresa Castaneda
Student Success Coordinator
College of Environmental Design
Bldg. 7-106”

Of course, the e-mail also talks about the workshop, and I was wondering if anyone was planning to go. I live 6 to 7 hours away and I do have class so it won’t be a possibility for me :(

Finally! My portal was updated today, and I got admitted! Yay!

@pandarose Congratulations - I’m happy for you! I’ve checked about 5 times today but still nothing.

Mine’s been “Application Received” ever since like some of you guys :\ . I sent in on Nov 13 for computer engineering.

Also is it ironic that I have never had to do a supplement application as required by the engineering departments? I have never been contacted (checked everywhere!: my email, to-do list, holds, etc…) regarding it also, but my friend (whose stats are similar as mine also) applying for civil engineering did it a while ago and already got accepted…

Just got in for Hospitality !!!

My son was just admitted today and his portal was checked more than once today. The admitted status didn’t show up until this evening. Yahoo! Cal Poly Pomona is one of his first choices. His status went from Application Received to Admitted tonight!

For you that go admitted Congrats!! could you guys post your stats? :)

Honestly I’m not proud of my SAT/ACT score, but nonetheless here are my stats:
Major: Liberal Studies
GPA: 3.81
SAT:1180/1600
ACT: 24
Lots of extra curriculars pertaining to my major, and an adequate amount community service hours.

Straight from application received to provisional admit today.
Transfer student from CC, not in local area

Congrats pandarose and bulls2012!

when did you apply bulls?

Congrats, bulls2012.

I am curious when you applied as well.

I applied on 11/6/2011 to a non-impacted major.

thanks bulls2012! i’ll be praying now… (i’m at application received)

I was at CPP today for the college of ag open house. I spoke with an admissions rep within the animal science department and he said they haven’t even started looking at transfer applications yet because they’re still going through the freshman. I probably won’t hear anything until the end of March. :(

:/ Isn’t that because animal science is impacted, though?

I’m a non-impacted transfer applicant and I’m stuck at Application Received.

Dang, I hope they’ll take me as a math major.

My status went to Provisional Admit sometime this weekend! However, BroncoDirect says my application is complete and I don’t have any to do list items, so what else would they need? I’ll be going to the PCUMC this Saturday; any chance I’ll be able to ask and find out when I’m there?
And here are my stats:
Applied: 11/29/2011
Major: Math
GPA: 3.94
Credits completed at my local CC: 107
