Falsely Accused

Hello. On December 05, 2015 I took the SAT subject test. Right before everyone started the proctor gave me a funny look and wrote down (what it seemed like) my book’s serial number on a piece of paper. I am afraid that she thought I may have cheated or something. I did not cheat. How do I know if my scores were cancelled because of this? I feel like I did very well on the test. The proctor did not confront me after taking the test to tell me anything, nor have I received an email thus far. What is my best chance here?

Wait for your scores. Maybe you look like her ex or something.

@intparent Thank you. I was just wondering what I do in case when the scores come up they say “invalid” or “cancelled” because I have heard that College Board notifies colleges of “cheaters”. I am not a cheater however and I want to avoid this happening.

Unfortunately, you can’t do anything but wait. If you are really worried (though I bet it is in fact nothing) you may want to sign up and take January. Nothing proves you didn’t cheat better than doing just as well on a re-take. But if they do accuse you, by the time it all gets resolved you may have to take the new style test. So if the current test is the one you are prepared for, January may be your best bet.

To my knowledge this does not happen.

@marvin100 @pckeller does anyone know when I would get notified if my scores were indeed cancelled?

As proctors, we have to report which serial numbers are assigned to which seats-- honest! We have to fill out a seating chart documenting who took which exam.

It may have been an “OMG, I missed that serial number!!” moment.

Don’t borrow trouble; the odds are good that there was no issue here.
