I know that U of SC provides housing for families, single parents, non traditional students, etc. I am looking to transfer in the Fall(2013) and am interested in staying in the Family Housing apartments(Carolina Gardens or Cliff Apartments),because I have a two year old son. Does anyone know how difficult it is to get into Family Housing? Or would it be easier to live off campus?

There is a USC grad school facebook page…might want to ask there. Search by University of South Carolina, not USC or you’ll end up in California:)

Thanks scmom12, I will check it out!

I know of people who have lived there. The biggest complaint I’ve heard is the trains.

I don’t know how difficult it would be to get that housing, but I would suggest looking at other options, as well. You might find something much nicer for around the same price off-campus.

The apartments are on-campus, but they’re down past Bates, so it isn’t exactly ‘close’ to most of the academic buildings. There are some off-campus options that are a little closer to the main parts of campus.

Thanks AUGirl, I am also looking into off campus apartments as well. It seems a little cheaper to go off campus, but I am still weighing my options.
