I got a mid year request form but ahh I think I screwed myself over, I got a 3.67gpa this past semester, ahhhh, but I’m taking 3 hard AP classes. Am I totally screwed?

my s is in the same boat, 4.0 weighted this semester. I think it is not good. But we will both see, eh?

Is it a bad sign if they don’t ask you for mid year grades? They didn’t ask me for mid year grades and I did not report them online. But in my required documents list it says all documents have been submitted but doesn’t mention mid-year grades. Or maybe my school has sent them without my knowledge. Ahh so scared! And I am an international so I might hear later than the rest of you.

Putturani, My understanding is it is NOT a bad sign. your grades and stats must be very solid and they did not need any more info. Don’t fret and best of luck to you and everyone else on this site!!!

Thanks judyjim, just found out that my school did send in my mid-year grades so nothing to worry about. But I don’t have the DHL email and now I am freaking out!

Sorry if this question has been asked already, but are the Presidential/Trustee scholarships based solely on test scores or is it considered holistically (GPA, test scores, ECs, etc) as it would be for a regular admission?

They are based on more than just your grades and test scores. Unless you are a national merit scholarship finalist and automatically get a presidential scholarship, you must go to USC and attend the scholarship interview sessions to be awarded one of these large scholarships.

Hello there, I am currently attending a CC and I have several questions;
1- I was wondering if I chose a major if I can change the major once I am accepted to USC, I want to major in structual engineering, but when I called I was told to take a lot of math and sciences classes, so i was thinking of chosing a major that will be not hard to get into and then change my major maybe the next day at USC.
2- I was wondering if the USC basketball team does walk-on tryouts
3- I want to attend USC but i am worried i will not be able to get enough financial aid to attend.

How many students are accepted to annenberg?

Hi, does USC accept additional materials that showcase your talent? I am not applying to the art majors but can I still submit an art portfolio?

@facepalm

I believe you can send in whatever you want extra but whether they will actually consider it when making a decision is a different question because you would then have an unfair advantage over the other applicants.

I sent in a bunch of extra stuff that wasn’t required and I was accepted.

uhm, is there a way to get missing app stuff to them. I forgot to answer on of the short answer questions in the supp section. Can I send it via mail?

Hey everyone could you please chance me? USC is one of my top choices, but I’m afraid I am not well qualified!!

I see, thanks. How did you send in those materials?

@ facepalm I just sent it to the undergraduate admissions office and they added it to my file. and i know that for sure because one day I went in and talked to my admissions counselor and he “pulled up my file” and I saw the 4 extra letters of recommendation I had sent in when no letters of rec were even required as a transfer.

@quebueno3 Oh I see, thanks!

By the way, I’m confused. USC only needs ONE letter of recommendation right? Either from a teacher or from a counselor. People keep on telling me that I need both a teacher rec AND a counselor rec…

You need a letter from a teacher and your counselor must also do an evaluation.

Speaking of letters of rec., can the principle of you school do a letter of rec. for you or is that not allowed?

Your primary letter of recommendation should be from someone who knows you as a student and who can comment on you in terms of your academic performance in-class. That is generally a teacher or a counselor. If you have someone else whom you think can add something different or in addition to the information in a teacher or counselor letter, you could send it as a secondary recommendation.

I rarely comment on spelling on College Confidential, both because we are very informal here and because I have made many errors myself that are forever preserved for all to see, but I feel it is important to recommend that if/when you request a letter from your principal or mention your principal in correspondence with colleges that you are careful about the spelling.

Good luck!

Hahahah… I swear I am not that bad with spelling. I just wrote that in a hurry/didn’t proofread. Thanks for the response though!
