FAQ for USC Admissions

This is the first year they have used The Common Application, so I am no help with the mechanics of that.

This is posted on the USConnect login page:

[" + loginpagetitle + "](http://usconnect.usc.edu/)

You can check your submission time on your Common Application account. If it is December 1st or earlier, you met the scholarship deadline.

@seahawks,

I received the “thanks for your app” letter too. Look at the very bottom of the page. On mine, it has my USC ID number. I didn’t even notice it until I read your post and went to check my letter to see if it had it on it. Hope that helps and yours is there!

all i found was a 2 letter, 3 digit number right at the bottom. is that what you got?

The USC ID is generally 10 numeric digits variously displayed as XXXXXXXXXX or XXXX-XXXX-XX.

My letter was dated the 28th of November and it doesn’t have a USC ID number on it at all! Does that mean anything in terms of scholarship chances and acceptance? Also, I made a USC Connect account before applying. Will I have to make a new one to check my application?

The date you received the letter would be tied to the date you submitted your application.

All applicants who applied on or before December 1st are considered for scholarships.

If you already have a USConnect account, there is no reason to create a second account.

I took AP art in high school and got a score of 5, I don’t think that will count as a transfer credit so I’m planning on taking intro to art in cc. Will this satisfy the arts and letter reccomendation for admission?

No. Here is a sampling of this semester’ Category IV Arts and Letters courses: [ARLT 100g: Arts and Letters](<a href=“Course not found”>Course not found)
<a href=“Course not found”>Course not found;

Use the Transfer Planning Guide and articulation agreements to determine which courses may meet the Category 5 GE requirement. Arts and Letters is the study of the fine arts including literature, film, art history, etc.

Your 5 in AP ART will count as elective credit.

I have two questions.

Are overseas DoDEA school students considered as “international applicants”?

If not,

If you were born in California and lived there for most of your life, but attended Highschool in another country (but in a DoDEA school) are you considered as an international applicant?

No, you are only an international applicant if you are not a resident of the US.

So I qualify for need-base aid right (I’m a resident). I also should’ve mention my residency somewhere in the CommonApp, I put I was born in California but did not mention my residential status (as it was not asked), would that matter (e.g. reduced chances)?

Does anyone know if USC are still doing Interviews or did we miss the boat on that one?

Would taking Intro to Visual Arts in my CC satisfy category 5 Arts and Letters recommended for admissions? I’m trying to get in touch with a USC academic counselor that’s specialized for my area but I’m not getting any response. It would be nice to get an immediate answer since classes start today and I would like to sign up for this class if it will fullfill the requirement.

USC2016,

It might be a good idea to write a short formal note to your admissions counselor explaining your citizenship status as soon as possible.

No, it probably would not. The Category 5 GE requires something along the lines of Art History, Literature, etc. rather than a class where you create your own art. If you are attending a California Community College you can consult the articulation agreements to see which classes will transfer for specific courses. See the link above for a sampling of Arts and Letters courses. [USC ARR : Articulation](http://www.usc.edu/dept/ARR/articulation/)

Does USC ship to PO Boxes for international applicants? I called them and they said they use DHL and they said it should ship to PO Boxes but when I checked the FAQ on DHL.com it says

USC has used DHL to notify International applicants and USPS Priority Mail for domestic applicants. I know that within the United States, DHL and UPS cannot ship to PO boxes because the PO boxes are part of USPS and outside companies are not given access to them. I do not know what the policies are in other countries.

I applied by the December first deadline for scholarship consideration. However, I just now sent my transcript from the junior college I took a history class at. But, the class appears on my high school transcript that my counselor sent in the school report. Will this delay hinder my scholarship eligibility?

I don’t think it will be a problem. As long as USC has the information (such as from your transcript), in the poast they have used that to consider your application for scholarships and then verify when the official transcripts and score reports (for SATs and ACTs) arrive.

Good luck!!!

Alright thank you!
