There isn't much talk about fashion majors so I feel a bit nervous posting this, but I'm an aspiring fashion design student. I'm not definite on my plan, because it's either fashion or graphic. I know I know, graphic is probably the better route to go, but like I said I'm not definite, and I'm basing my major off things I'm passionate about.

Well, because the topic is on Fashion Design schools, the couple I know that have majors in it are Parsons, FIT, Otis, RISD and Cooper Union. I have seen nothing about Otis in this forum and I wonder why... but I've seen Parsons, a lot of RISD and a bit of FIT and Cooper Union here and there. I've never been to the east coast but I want to attend an art school there so if there are any east coast art students/knowledgeable associates that can give me the scoop on the good fashion major schools, it'd be much appreciated!

I've researched already, and found that Parsons would be one of the more prestigious fashion design schools because of their notable list of alumni(and of course because it's Parsons).

My notion of fashion design in RISD is that it's not so big. I know they're big on graphic design, and I know they have an apparel design major but I'm thinking that a fashion major should opt for a fashion based school like Parsons or FIT. I really like RISD though because the environment seems nice, not as hectic as New York but not suburban. Too bad it's probably one of the most (if not THE) expensive art schools.

I don't know much about FIT, but I know it's more technology based with not as much creative incorporation as other schools. Is that a good thing? Bad thing? I need info!

Cooper Union, I don't know much about either. All I heard is that they have a really good design program. It seems that their notable alumni consists mostly of graphic design/production associates so I'm highly doubtful that CU will be in my top 3 schools of choice.

And lastly, Otis. It's the only west coast school I mentioned and it seems good in design, but I don't know if living in LA will be the best influence. I've been there many times and I've been to their fashion district but it doesn't seem as WOW-ing as what NY has to offer. I feel like I'd be in such a better fashion environment if I were to go to a NY school, which is why I prefer an east coast school. Sorry for all the text, but I hope someone can help. Thanks!
