Favorite chicken fast food place

I have had fried chicken at local fast food place, Zippy’s as well as at the deli counter at local grocery chain, Foodland.

Chik fil a is tops for me. Plus here at least they are so supportive of our community-whenever a hurricane or other disaster hits, they are the first ones there to provide food. They also support lots of local kids sports teams, and will help charity drives. I appreciate that.
I respect that people may have religious belief that differ from my own. They are entitled to do so. So long as they do not discriminate in serving or hiring based on those beliefs, it is not my concern.

We just toured Duke and our guide (a friend of a friend, so not an official school tour) explained how they used to have a Chick-fil-A on campus but it was kicked out by the students.

We like shake-shack chicken sandwiches. I like the burgers too. Both are smaller and lighter than what you usually get at a usual chain.

Charlotte is the home of Bojangles too! But plenty of other good restaurants.

My mouth instantly waters at the thought of a piece of good Nashville Hot Chicken. That and a good coleslaw and a generous helping of pickles and I can be REALLY happy. Don’t even need the “sandwich” component.

Who tops the spicy chicken category??? I have some favs but they are local/regional.

My son also loves Royal Farms fried chicken. We have to usually pick up chicken from the gas station on our way to the beach.

Yuck

We have in Nashville tho. But for me, yuck!!

But all our tastes differ hence so many successful places.

 No worries. I pretty much only go to Bojangles once or twice a year for the fries when I am on a road trip. I don’t eat much fast food of any kind, but sometimes you gotta stop somewhere quick when you are traveling and they do have really good seasoned fries. The biscuits are all right (I know other better biscuit joints locally). But since you are going to the Queen City I thought you oughta know that Bojangles started there.

NC is also the origin of Hardees and Pepsi and too many cigarette brands to name. We’re a historically health-conscious people here.

And Krispy Kreme too!!

My favorite NC thang!

I have never been to Nashville, nor have I had their hot chicken. I have fried chicken maybe once a year (usually Royal Farms) and I love spicy food. I noticed this place Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken, a franchise, opened locally sometime last year. It sounded like something my sons would love and kept meaning to try and get there before they went back to college, but couldn’t fit it in.

Seems to get good reviews from the locals here.

Has anyone been? Doesn’t look like they have many locations yet, but seems like they are quickly expanding.

Believe it or not, I have! We don’t have any near me, but they do in the DC area. We went over the summer while visiting the kids. Younger S loves it and went often over the summer. I thought it was good, but don’t remember it being amazing.

We don’t eat fast food chicken often, but when we do I prefer Popeyes chicken sandwiches and Raising Cane’s for chicken fingers. I used to frequent Chick-FIL-A but stopped years ago. I must admit I miss their breakfast chicken biscuit. (It helps that we don’t have one close to us.)

Something we discovered through our kids is Korean bbq fried chicken! It’s a little bit sweet and a little bit spicy like Mike’s Hot Honey. The two places we “pick-up to-go” aren’t franchised but if you have the opportunity to try Korean fried chicken, I suggest you do!

This place is pretty good in Chapel Hill. Been there a few times with my DD.

The Chick Fil A is always jam-packed with cars – backed up all the way out of the parking lot and into the road.

So either their drive-through is incredibly slow, or a lot of people love them.

They have a very quick drive thru - BTDT multiple times in multiple places. Their service is impressive, which probably adds to why many people like them. For us, flavor is utmost though. We never go somewhere just because they have good service or we believe in their values, unless someone else picked the spot. We go because we love the food. Why eat unhealthy things one doesn’t actually love?

Cook Out comes to mind for me. They seem to be loved by some, but we’ve tried them three times trying different things and they definitely aren’t for us. Food is bland. Milkshakes aren’t real milkshakes. They’re like Wendy’s Frosties - way too thick to enjoy. Now when others suggest them we actually say no, let’s pick something else.

Their drive thru is one of the most efficient.

We have a Chick Fil A next to an In- N- Out burger. Talk about a traffic nightmare. Except on Sundays.

Cain’s is awful. The coleslaw is okay. Everything else is just tan food that may be french fries or may be chicken. All tastes the same.

What makes Cain’s, to me, is the sauce. I would eat that with shoe leather. hehe
