Favorite Concertos?

Mk, so I'm obsessed with Mozart's Piano Concerto in D minor (K.466)

which ones do ya likeee?

As a flute palyer, I love both Mozart flute concerti. I also like the Ibert Concerto for flute, the Chaminade Concertino, and Jolivet Concerto. As far as other instruments are concerned, I like the Bolcom Concerto for violin, the Tchaikovsky violin concerto, the Nielsen clarinet concerto, the Weber clarinet concerti, and the Richard Strauss Horn Concerto No. 1. If only there were Strauss for flute...

Rachmaninov Piano Concerto #2

OOh and Grieg Piano in A minor. Aaaand Sibelius Violin in D minor

I play the piano and the flute:

And I LOVE the first flute concerto by mozart. It's so lovely :)

Eating,

Have you ever heard of this piece called...uh... something like ambidextrous or something? The flute player also plays the piano. I do not think it's really difficult though, but it's kind of cool. Right now I'm doing the Bozza Image because my teacher says that I really need another unaccomp. for my program.

How 'bout you? What are you learning?

No! I've never heard of this before! But it sounds amusing.

I'm learning the D-minor concerto I mentioned. Also a couple things by chopin (the 3rd ballade and nocturne in e major) and 2 chamber pieces (beethoven trio C-minor, haydn trio G-major). And finally the Haydn sonata in E flat- Major (!!!! favorite thing of my life. ever.)

yayay!!!

Liebestraum No.3 ftw

Mozart's Clarinet Concerto and Carl Maria von Weber's Clarinet Concertino.

Does Shostakovitch No. 8 String Quartet Count? I love that.

Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. Coincidentally, I sent a recording of me playing that to Yale.

^Agree with Mendelssohn. I also love Symphonie Espagnole by Lalo.

But my favorite are Tchaikovsky's violin concerto and piano concert No. 1.

I have become OBSESSED with classical music as of this summer past.

ravel left hand concerto in g for piano
telemann oboe concerto in f minor
mendelssohn violin concerto in e minor, sibelius d minor violin concerto
BEETHOVEN EMPEROR CONCERTO!!

pistonsfan39 -- i play the grieg! i love it too. i think it's underrated. except i think it was in a car commercial once over the summer.
i wish there were more oboe concertos :(. most of them are baroque or mozart. bleh. baroque is great. mozart is blah and is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy overrated.

Life without classical music is like Physics without math.

Listen to "Marcia alla turca" and "Turkish March." Please.

Saosin - 3rd Measurement in C

anyone?

i don't like that piece (turkish march -- from sonata in A major right? i think it's the third movement)

ok fine. mozart's 21st piano concerto in C Major is pretty good.
other than that and the oboe concerto in c and a few string quartets, mozart's music...isn't my thing.
squares and physics don't really interest me.

but classical music is amazing. I LOVE BEETHOVEN. i can "sing" most of his symphonies.

Just thought of a few more: Toccata & Fugue in d minor by Bach, Piano Sonata No. 14 by Beethoven (moonlight sonata) - all 3 movements are amazing, The Art of Fugue by Bach, Waltz in d flat major, opus 64, No. 1 by Chopin.

oh dear me

mozart is so incredible.
