Favorite Running/Sports Pains/Injuries and Running shoes

I am just curious what types of fatigue everyone is used to in the daily workouts and what not? ie Shin splints, bad knees, cold shoulders, and actual sports injury?

I personally have traditionally had shin splints and painful knees at times but always run through the minimal pain.

I just got a nice pair of running shoes that take all the strain off my legs, its amazing. When I went out for my 4 miles last night, I felt nothing in either of my knees. Better yet, my stride was wider, and I felt less winded, all from new shoes. The only suprise was I wore a too tight shirt and got my favorite ailment of all time:

RUNNERS' NIPPLES

If you have never heard of these, they are a real problem. Mostly for Marathon runners, but you can get them even on a short 5K jog if you are sensative. And before you say it, I am a guy! This doesn't affect women because they wear bras when they run and it protects against the abrasive nature of the cloth.

Hahaha. I saw this interesting item that could be useful in Beast for chaffing, etc. What do ya'll think?

http://www.runningunlimited.com/asp/product.asp?pid=147

The only time I get chaffing is extended running without proper showering afterwards in hot enviroments. But you don't want it to happen. So maybe invest in this? I hear it'll alleve my runner's nipples as well. (Really all I have to do is stay away from tight shirts and underarmour and I won't get them! But I like underarmour and am too cheap to buy new clothes as my chest muscles become beastly (jk, I wouldn't say beastly))

If anyone wanted to know the new 'luxury' shoes I got are here:

http://www.runningunlimited.com/asp/product.asp?pid=810

This is an awesome shoe especially if your over pronate, have weak arches, or weigh ~180+. Lots of cushioning, but they are still very much supportive. I highly suggest them (even though they are a tad bit heavy at 13oz, but the comfort is worth it)

You want to see a "beast" of a shoe, look at this:

http://www.runningunlimited.com/asp/product.asp?pid=525

Whatever you do, DON'T buy this shoe. I got it before because the store clerk promised the "greatest" stability they could offer. And on the box there was a list of 'technologies' a mile long. This shoe is the heaviest most of uncomfortable POS I have ever worn. After a 2 mile jog I was out of breath, covered in blisters, had pain in my knees/shins/ankles. I suppose someone likes running with bricks on their feet... Don't get the Addiction either, its the same shoe with sligthly less support. If anyone has had luck with these shoes , feel free to post about it (you must have weird feet, but w/e)

And BTW, I am NOT endorsing their site, a lot of the stuff is VERY overpriced. But they do have all the current brands of shoes listed on their site, so its a decent reference.

I'm so amused that the name of the shoe is Beast. :D :D

Yeah, the name might be funny, but they really do feel like bricks, I hated them. Getting new lighter shoes feels amazing though, I feel like I am floating almost, just because of the weight difference.

ragmanlaw: bodyglide is great for preventing chaffing in areas that rub together. I'm not sure that it would stop your nipples getting chaffed though. Covering your nipples with a small strip of surgical tape usually works well.
