Favorite Word...

Did anyone put “Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis”??? hahahaha

I talked to a Princeton admissions person, who told me that no one should take this section overly seriously. It’s just meant to get to know the applicant on a more casual level. There are no wrong answers.

and yet, everybody still freaks out XD j.k

I put spontaneity. :)

Not really. It’s actually a fascinating word, and no, I’m not joking. It’s the only English word with so many different tenses so I actually wouldn’t be surprised if someone of the thousands actually put it down and didn’t mean it as a joke.

@ DLBasSer: lol i put hippotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia, the fear of long words… it really is my favorite word and it is kinda similar to the silicosis word as it is a factitious word too that was later accepted into the common usage (well how common of course is a matter of discussion ^^)
@187: i think i would be surprised. alone when regarding the posts in this forum, one can see that people applying to ivies tend to be overly cautious when it comes to creative, or better, interesting answers. i mean ask yourself (and answer honestly ^^) if you´d have done it?? i wouldn´t have :P

austriangirl: haha wow, you must really love that word  my word was actually “support”… there’s nothing special to it, just that I like to support or be supportive. (I guess I should have mentioned that too…lol)

@austriangirl: You seem to forget that there’s thousands and thousands of applicants annually. There has to be at least one person who put it down not as a joke. And I’m sure there’s more than just one. They probably would have added a little explanation though with the limited room.

187: I doubt that…

i put “ouais”

My friend told me, he put “a” … this was for another application, but still, favorite word :stuck_out_tongue: LOL

ACE!!!. i play tennis :)

waitlisted

Hahaha. One of my high school friends(we’re from SoCal) put “dude” as his favorite word =P

ineluctable…one of the many words I will remember from Latin class.

Comes from luctor, luctari, luctatus sum (to wrestle). It describes something that cannot be wrestled with (eg ineluctable fate). I knew right away to put ineluctable down for this question.

@tomhuu: Is that your word?

I put “eureka”!

“Shenanigans”

“snuggery”

i put “hello” when i applied
