Favourite safety

U of Miami for me, but i'm not in love with it by far

Krab - as far as Lehigh, yes I'd say you are most likely in there, but I would apply to an even safer safety as a backup - someplace that you will definitely get in, like Penn State or something. The reason is that sometimes schools get the feeling that you are using them as a safety and will outright reject people who haven't shown much interest in the school. Happened to a friend of mine who was outright rejected from American U and GW despite(or maybe because of) very high SATs, GPA and great ECs and recs.

countdown: i'm from CNY. love cornell. hate syracuse.

gorgeous campus, mediocre campus
great academics, so-so academics
good hockey, horrible in every sport so much so its painful to look at
cornell area people are cool, syracuse is depressing, creepy, and slummy

a few reasons

plus, in rural NY, admission to syracuse is like getting into an ivy for a normal person. syracuse just missed the cut for the ivy league, i think

My safeties were Syracuse (sorry, 26e), Miami (OH), BU, Clemson, University of Washington (underrated), and Pepperdine. The only ones in there I like were UW and Pepperdine.

u dub is way underrated. and it's med school is top notch

I dont have many that are technically safeties.

William and Mary, USC and GW are the closest for me.

26e: Lehigh is actually ranked higher than NYU according to usnews. ha ha ha.

since they are both in the top 49 (usnews-wise), my new safeties were in fact BU and Villanova :) there you go.

now i know.

My safeties are GW and Syracuse, but the only thing is that I am applying to really intense programs in each, so I don't even know if they are really safeties.

i love University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign!!!

McGill University .......

I'm in Texas........so I guess UT - Austin is mine

It struck me that Lehigh would be ranked so high. I know it's a great engineering school, but I had no idea that overall, it is relative high in the rankings. Unfortunately, I didn't put a gross amount of passion in my Lehigh essay, but I did pinpoint some specifics that were relevant to my academic endeavors--and it turned out to be a concise essay.

HAHA.. not Yale because of that video..
it was all my fault!

lol what video are you all talking about? i think i must have missed out on some importante news :(

miami (oh) and Ohio State- already been accepted with honors at both so I got my safties done

GW.. amazing location, access to internships, great study abroad program, UNBELIEVABLE DORMS, good food, plus I love the poli comm program. I'd be happy there.

Penn State University Park!

Scmoody -
When I went down to visit my friends at GW, I thought the exact opposite. It was actually the smallest dorms I had ever seen and definately not nicer than other schools that I have seen. Which dorn did you see?

I don't remember the name, I visited a while ago.. but I remember being told that most of the dorms were converted apartments and hotels. Each of them apparently has a private bathroom, walk in closet, fridge, microwave and weekly maid service, and the building I saw had a separate gym.
