ive been accepted into UF and my final report card has 2 Ds and an F in AP classes. what should i do? should i email them with an explanation? have they ever really revoked anyone?

Yes, they really have revoked admission before. I’m not sure how many classes you have to fail, but it is a possibility. Since you only failed one class, they might just let you start at UF on academic probation. Unless you have a really good reason for the drop in your grades (e.g. someone in your family died, you had to get major surgery, etc.), I wouldn’t contact them about it. They can tell if it was just senioritis and they won’t appreciate someone lying to them (not implying that you were planning to). Good luck!

My son was afraid he would have a D or even F in AP Calc. We checked with Admissions and were told that it would be a good idea to contact them and explain - be truthful pls - about the grades. He ended up scraping out a C and has breathed a big sigh of relief. I would think that Admissions would be impressed if they were contacted in advance and knew that you were concerned about your grades and realized the value UF places on them.

bump, still seeking advice

call the office and ask what their policy is. if they ask for specifics, you can lie and say you’re worried about two C’s or something not very bad. if they just say ‘dont worry’, ask to elaborate.

There’s a sizeable chance your admission will be rescinded. There’s no reason to sugarcoat it; I would definitely start thinking about a contingency plan.

i’m thinking it’ll hinge on your UF GPA as determined for admissions.

what classes

“Admission is conditional until UF receives your final transcripts and validates successful completion of all conditions noted in your admission letter. Notify the Office of Admissions of any changes in the coursework you planned to complete before enrolling at UF. Any changes from what you indicated on your application could affect your admission.”

With one F and two D’s that’s about as serious as it gets.

FSU sends out this e-mail;
“If you are receiving low grades in your senior courses, you should contact our office immediately. D’s or F’s in your senior courses and/or in any dual enrollment coursework may result in your admission being rescinded. As you prepare for final exams, please remember that your enrollment at Florida State University is contingent upon successful completion of your senior year!”

Would expect UF to do the same.

If you outright failed a class, you’re in rough shape. Things might be different if you only got a F for the last quarter.

Just out of curiosity… when exactly do they revoke admission offers anyway?
