I am currently in AP Calc and I have been struggling all year making a c first semester. I now have d as my fianly second semester grade. All my other grades are A and B's. I was just wondering if I will be rescinded. I emailed FSU, but they havnt replied back yet.
thanks.

since it’s not a huge drop, I don’t think so. I’d recommend calling them on Monday. It’ll make you feel better if you actually talk to someone on their end =)

I think it will PROBABLY slide if you had a C first semester and were accepted. If they ask you to write a letter – just tell the truth. Explain that it’s really difficult and you are working your hardest. Since you have all As and Bs in your other classes, I don’t think that they will believe you are slacking off majorly – and therefore I am very sure they will not rescind. Kids have gotten 1 D and still kept their admission to Ivy League’s and so forth.

Try to get it to a C- though – ask your teacher to raise it!

Definitely call admissions to ask for their advice.

That being said, I doubt a D in AP Calc would get you rescinded. That’s not an easy class.

ok thanks everybody and I was thinking I could always do grade forgiveness

It’s unlikely that you’d get rescinded, especially since it’s in an AP class and because the rest of your grades are pretty good.

Now, that said, FSU is getting really strict when it comes to Ds on report cards. There’s a lot of people that have been deferred or outright rejected so far for getting a D in their classes in high school, even though they have otherwise stellar profiles.

I would say that the odds are really low, but yes, there is still a chance. My advice is the same as above, and it seems like you’ve already done most of what you should by contacting FSU Admissions about it. There’s not really much that you can do beyond letting Admissions know and asking about it. Of course, my other piece of advice is to get the grade up, although I know how difficult that is at this point.

It’s been rumored, but I’m not sure how accurate it is, that bringing any potential issues such as this to Admissions is actually beneficial. It lets them know that you’re willing to take responsibility. That isn’t to say that you can go get an F in the class this semester and not get rescinded, but it’s rumored that contacting FSU basically eliminates the chance of being rescinded in instances like this.

I don’t think it eliminates the chances of being rescinded. It probably helps you since it demonstrates that you have a high interest level. If your grades started slipping for no obvious reason and you don’t seem concerned about it, that might raise questions.
