Feb 12 ACT

Thanks this thread really helps. I thought:
E: Easy
M: Harder than usual but pretty good
R: Very tough, not much time at all
S: Easier than usual

Does anyone remember the question in science about the type of graph it was? Was it exponential or logarithmic?

Also does anyone remember what the answer was to the science question, can’t remember the exact question but the answers were like Neruon Blood Cells and two other answers I don’t remember…does that ring a bell at all? In that section it didn’t state anything about the answers given so I was confused!

^ It was exponential for the graph. The cells were Lens cells, because in the first paragraph, it said that the cone cells were in the eyes and that the cone cells sent the signals to the brain. Therefore, I’m pretty sure that “Lens cells” was the answer.

E: tad harder than usual but i aced it
M: confusing, more confusing in the end
R: the easiest section for me
S: easy but very confusing.

yes the act was extremely tricky this round. this was my last time taking it.(whew)

how do you get cone from lens cell? i put neuron.

for the math, the 3 questions about the piecewise, does anybody remember the ques/ans?

I’m pretty sure it was choice a for 1/4 pi < x < 1/2 pi. I also put neuron, although i was unsure because of what Tenebrous said.

what were the other choices for the “fertility question”?

If it’s the question I’m thinking of… I think I put productivity :/

E: easiest thing I have ever done
M: medium
R: easy-medium
S: Just… ***. I’d rather forget about this section

for the piecewise, did you plug in the income into the given equation or use the given % at the top?

i think it was 6,7, and 9%?

I put Neuron as well.
The answer to one of the Piecewise function questions was 82,xxx. I also picked .10x for the third/last one but I don’t think it’s correct lol

yes… the first answer was like 1618 or 1518… the second one was .09… 3rd was C (dont remember exact answer)…fourth was .10x - 5100

I 3rd neuron. it said transmitted to the brain right? well… the function of neurons is to transmit information to the brain. if that is ACT’s reasoning it seems sort of unfair bc you needed outside knowledge to get it right.

was .09 one of the answers?

.1x isnt right, you had to make it continuous.

^the science section usually does include like 1-3 questions of outside knowledge, though.

yes… it was .09 and the last one was .10x - 5100

@BCB1993
-I’m pretty sure it was lens cell because it didn’t talk about neurons and I thought the ACT science doesn’t need outside information.
-I got the 82,xxx as well
-I got .10x-5100 because at an income of $200,000, the graph showed the tax pay to be between 12,000 and 16,000. If you do .10(200,000) - 5100, you end up with $14,900 as the tax which would fit right in with the graph and make it continuous.

The answer to the two squares was not 4.
It was 4.5.

what was p4 on the science? the population question.

didnt have time so i guessed lol.

cool dude is right about the math… possible 36 :)

@touhou How did you arrive at that answer? That question stumped me.
(I did put 4.5 as my answer though)

Yeah, I’m 90% sure that .1x wasn’t right. I specifically remember reading the section regarding the Neuron question and Neurons weren’t mentioned at all, but neither were any of the other option choices. I figured it was the most likely answer, even though you had to pull from your own knowledge.

@ people who are replying to me. I’m trying to reply back, but this thread is going a little too fast for my poor internet connection. Sorry if I miss you.
