February 2010 English Thread

hopefully that’s right. same answers user

I put “After I emerge” because after the comma, it said the memory and coolness or something. If I put “emerging,” the sentence would be something like “emerging up into the sun, the coolness and memory lingers within me” or something and then that would make the coolness and memory emerging, and not me.

Fudge I hope I didn’t misread.

I also thought the same thing. The phrase would be modifying the coolness and memory not the person.

I put “After I emerge”

Shoot. Is it possible/probable to get a 36 on English with -1?

I think on this test, English would probably be the least likely -1, as it seems on most tests the -1 is either reading or science. Plus this test had a fairly hard math test so that could be the -1 too. I am not sure if any test ever has two -1 = 36s.

I’m pretty sure “After I emerge” was the right answer, because the perspective at the beginning of the essay is first person/present tense. The narrator goes off with his historical anecdote, and then comes back to his current perspective (Which is first person/present tense). The essay is full of “I do this” and “I do that.” I hope that made sense.

did we ever decide if the answer was just “beauty and magic” or an expanded version of that?

just the simple verson, i think, was the concensus. I put just beauty and magic.

im just curious isnt it illegal to share test questions?

when you sign the certification statement for ACT there is nothing about releasing test questions being banned. THats only for the piece of **** SAT

And whatever “embargo” there was, it’s over now, because everyone who could possibly take that specific test has already taken it.

you guys im just kidding buy yeah i agree the SAT is a piece of ***** because the measure of your “Ability” is more than just weird math questions and confusing reading

was B the answer to number 75?

you may want to be a little bit more specific with your question if you can

yeah my bad, i forgot the question though

I think it was inserting the “with me” into the sentence; I personally said B as well, but I think that may be wrong…To make the previous clause make sense, you had to add in a subject…but frankly, all of the places to insert it were awkward, I chose B because it was the least awkward.

Also, the question before that, the one that asked about where to split the paragraph…didn’t you just say before the sentence that resumed his first person (I think it was the sentence at the very beginning of the last page)?

Also, does anyone remember the hot, arid question about the desert.

Those were the only three I had any doubt on.

I second Ivysaur’s 2nd question. I think I got what he put.

Also, I omitted “with me”. Was that choice B?

lol dude none of us remember. We took it over a week ago ; )

Haha except for me :stuck_out_tongue: I think omit was D?
