I thought some of the rhetorical skills questions were harder than the December test... Discuss!

First time I took the ACT, so I can’t compare…

Specific question: began vs. begun?

Another one: does anyone remember what passage “marvel at” was in? I don’t recall seeing that… I tend to tune a lot of things out when I’m taking tests, and don’t remember much afterwards. :/

we’re talking about it on the other ACT thread. had the same question. so far everyone believes it was no answer (marvel at). and it was the last passage

The answer was “begun”, because the word has (or had? doesn’t matter) was before it.

Begun.
Marvel at (no change)

What was the one about “conceptualized the” something something? I put “grabbed” as the answer :/

And was it “emerging” or “After I emerged”?
I had “After I emerged”

I put realized. It said somethin like She _____ her dream. I thought realized sounded better than grabbed. And I put after I emerged as well but not 100% sure about that one

Realized
Emerging

I hope.

Realized. I put emerging since the entire story was written in present tense. I agree with begun and marvel at, but am not 100 percent sure I actually put them!

The reason I put “After I emerge” was because after it said something about the coolness and whatnot being with him for the rest of the day.

Also, the “with me” was supposed to be emitted, right?

Haha, marciemi - that’s exactly how I feel. When people ask these, I know the answer, I just can’t remember if I put it! (example - marvel at. I don’t even remember it being on the test o.O)

Does anyone know for sure about the after I emerged/emerging/etc.?

I omitted with me.

I also thought it was omit

I don’t remember “with me” at all - what passage was it in?

I think it was in the cave one, wasn’t it? (I might be making that up)

Which passage was the last one? Was that the cave one?

I feel like I have Alzheimer’s or something.

yes it was the last one. it was one of the last questions right after the emerging one

What did you guys put for the one that had the parentheses, and it asked if that phrase should be kept or deleted? It had something to do with opening lids or something in the 1970’s I think

i kept it. something about it adds detail. they all seemed kind of not good to a point but i went with that one.

canderson11, I said the same. Whether it’s right or not…

That’s what I put too. It said something about potentially useful information…

i thought the with me was good where it was

For question 74 and 75…I omitted the “me” part that they wanted to either be kept or moved, and because of this I changed the earlier question to “after I emerged” since the sentence would not have a subject if me was removed.
