Sorry if I'm posting this question in the wrong forum spot but... on the Common App for Yale there is a "fee wavier request" spot under the supplement section. I'm wondering if anyone knows if this is separate form the College board Fee Waiver? 0: Do I have to use one of my waivers AND do the "fee waiver request" or is this a separate and I can apply for this fee waiver without having to use up one of my college board waivers (trying to save some money.. lol)

It may be easier to use the collegeboard one. For most schools, a letter from your gc requesting a fee waiver is enough. for yale, however, it isn’t. The alternative is sending them your family income, number of people in family etc, it is described in the fee waiver description of their supplement. Whatever you decide, just make sure you do it and tie up all loose ends. You don’t want my experience of getting an e-mail of “we cannot process our decision on you until the fee waiver issue has been resolved” (not quite those words, but similar) about a week before RD decisions were supposed to come out last year. Best of luck.

:D Thank you!

I just put my income and number of people in family, and explained some circumstances. They will process the application even if it doesn’t become approved. However, what helped me is that i am a Questbridge Finalist.

let me clarify, what I meant was that OP can probably afford to use the CB waiver on Yale bc most schools accept something else in lieu of it. Yale is a little more complicated and what I had sent me was “we will not release our decision until this gets straightened out.” It didn’t help that the first person I e-mailed evidently missed it…so I got e-mailed about 2 weeks before decisions came out by the regional director asking if I was still INTERESTED in Yale…that e-mail scared me to pieces But thankfully it worked out. My point is it’s safer, and easier to use the CB fee waiver and get peace of mind :)

I’m an int’l and I can’t use the CB waiver…but on the yale supplement they said I only needed to provide those information. If I just tell them the information, without any official documents or notes from my guidance counselor…would that be OK? I know nothing about these fee waivers ><. Also my family income is less than $40,000 a year, and I’m a single child. I would be eligible right?

Im on the same situation fatum is facing, im also international and trying to save money. I also found that i can resquest a fee waiver on the yale supplement, if you answer him u will answer me as well. Can i just upload a document with the required data?
