fee waiver question..

im applying with a fee waiver, and even though i have a letter by my counselor, i noticed penn uses their own form. it says to submit the form with part 1a of the app. but can i still use this form if i am applying with the common app? when should i mail the fee waiver, before or after i submit the application (which will take me a few more days to complete)?? i am sorry if this is a stupid question but i have no one to ask :) anyone have any experience with this? or should i just email the regional rep??

I would see about this fee waiver to be safe : www.nacacnet.org/NR/rdonlyres/E4854E2B-0B9A-4244-90E5-14058FC3798E/0/form_feewaiver.pdf

That is not a stupid question at all. I just applied ED to Penn with a fee waiver. Generally, you fill out and send Form1/Part1 (basic info) first so they can open a file for you. If you used the online Penn App, then they remind you to send the fee waiver asap after Form1 so they can process the rest of your app. With the Penn App, you don’t have to complete all your essays and secondary school report, etc. before the fee waiver.

In your case, you must submit your common app and then fee waiver request, just as you would a check after you applied. I am almost positive they will accept their waiver form with the common app. Tell me if this helps you at all.

P.S. It never hurts to just call admissions for 1 minute and get definitive answers right away!

thanks to both of you, this was very helpful…i actually did look into the NACAC fee waiver, but my school’s college counselor is not a member so she couldnt use it and wrote me a letter instead. i think i will call tomorow just to make sure and ask if they want me to send the letter along with the form..thankss!!!
