So according to Yale’s website, you can qualify for a Yale fee waiver if you live in a household of three and make under $70,000 (which I do), but I don’t see any button on the Yale application that allows me to say I qualify, and I don’t think I qualify for the Common App fee waiver because I don’t qualify for free or reduced lunch. What do I do?
There are several indicators on the Common App Fee Waiver:
I have received or am eligible to receive an ACT or SAT testing fee waiver
I am enrolled in or am eligible to participate in the Federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch
program (FRPL)
My annual family income falls within the Income Eligibility Guidelines set by the USDA
Food and Nutrition Service
My family receives public assistance
I live in federally subsidized public housing, a foster home or am homeless
I can provide a supporting statement from a school official, college access counselor,
financial aid officer, or community leader
If any of these apply to you, you can qualify for a CA fee waiver- do you fit any of the indicators? If so, the CA will give you a fee waiver.
but I don’t think I fall under any of those criteria. Like there should be a fee waiver specific to Yale but I don’t see anyway to indicate I qualify for it on the actual Yale application
They don’t have a place on the Yale application where you could indicate it.
Personally, I checked “I can provide a supporting statement from a school official, college access counselor, financial aid officer, or community leader”, and then my counselor did the same thing, and Yale didn’t even ask for a supporting statement.
Just in case, however, ask your counselor if he/she would be willing to write the statement if necessary. If he/she says “yes”, ask him/her to put a tick on their part of the application, and then do the same in yours, and you should be just fine.
Okay that was what I was thinking of doing thank you so much!
