My counselor told me I couldn't get a college application fee waiver because I didn't get one for the SATs. I didn't even know I could've qualified for an SAT fee waiver when I took it... She said I would have to take it again with a fee waiver to get college app fee waivers... which I think is pretty stupid...

So my question is - am I missing something? Can I still get a fee waiver for my apps?

you have to prove you deserve enough financial aid, one of the ways they do this, is that if you are poor enough to have college board pay for your tests, you must be too poor to pay the app fee.

Fees can also be waivered at schools as like a bonus, like the JHU fencing coach got my fee waived there.

u can get a letter frm the school stating that u r elligible and will face hardship paying app. fees . Even if u dont get the CB fee waiver u may get this waive ur fees at majority of colleges

Tawny, you can also contact the schools directly and ask them if they will consider waiving fees. If your schools have a person in charge of multicultural recruiting, you might start by sending him/her an email explaining. That will tell them that you are low income and might tweak their interest. If you want help writing a persuasive email, feel free to pm me.

Hey tawny I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. So we have to actually take the SAT in order to use the fee waiver? Well if that's the case, and I can't appeal to the colleges, then I just won't be able to apply. Which sort of sucks.
