What do you mean, the GC said "we" don't have fee waivers? Who is "we"? Fee waivers are given to individuals, not to schools. Kids who ask for fee waivers usually get them.

???????????????

fee waivers are availible through the colleges, your school shouldnt have to pay for them. you most likely will get a fee waiver if you just try to get one. look at harvard's and other colleges websites for more info. also, dont let cost convince you not to go to college. its worth making the effort and trying wether it is to earn the money for the app or researching fee waivers. good luck!

alright thanks!
i'll try to find the fee waivers on the websites

but yeh back to the gc
my school is kind of ghetto.. actually it is... and he said.. "oh they havent givin me any more fee waivers"... so im assuming the main office?

i dont know

Fee waivers work this way:

You get your GC to write a letter saying "This is a fee waiver, and this is why he/she cannot pay."

That's all. They don't distribute fee waivers. Show your GC the Havard instructions on the application about fee waivers.

stop saying that schools don't distribute fee waivers. that's misleading.
schools distribute the collegeboard fee waivers for college apps, given you've used a waiver on an SAT test before.

your guidance counselor can just write a general letter stating that you can't pay the fee b/c of financial hardship etc...

alright

yeh the GC gave me collegeboard fee waivers

so from my understanding

all he has to do is write a letter explaining my desire for a fee waiver due to economic hardship?..

will that be enough or do i need some other sort of documentation?

"For a fee waiver, have your guidance counselor attach a written request to the front of the Common Application."

--from Harvard Website

I got a fee waiver and it was just a generic sheet of paper that asked for my name and why I needed it. My GC filled it out with out even showing it to me. Any GC in the country should have them.

are fee waivers at ivy leagues available to canadian students too? cause Collegeboard tests were only offered to US citizens =(

ali_liu: Harvard College admissions will accept your guidance counselor's note in lieu of a fee. It doesn't matter if you're applying from Canada, as long as it is your guidance counselor that just writes how it would be a hardship on your fam.
