Union is on my DS list of go to schools... That being said it's crazy to list all of his activities other than education because many are the same. What will remain is his ability to score high enough to get in. Currently he has taken the ACT & SAT once and scored accordingly with no prep in either.

He knows that the reading is not very good. It would appear to me all these kids have an issue in this area. Since taking the SAT he has been self preping and scored M - 680 to 700 & R - 600 to 620. He will take a prep class with 6 others that will last for 8 weeks and then take the SAT in May.

Taking all this into thought and I know there is no cristal ball here... Can someone give a prediction of possible SAT score increase. Also how do the current scores stack up to kids accepted.

Hi 3Units - Union is test optional for the ACT and the SAT. Which IMHO is a really good thing! So you’re not penalized if you don’t submit your scores.

Good luck to your son! My son has applied to Union. It’s very high on his list of schools so we’re keeping our fingers crossed.

More and more schools are moving to test optional which I think is good. Good luck to your son - have you visited Union? Their campus is gorgeous.

I lost count on how many schools my DS has visited but I think it stands at 6 or 7. He has not been to Union to date but he has a list of things he is doing & wants to do. Union as well as BU are on his list. I need food so if they have any good MVF places to eat please do tell.

My son visited 20 schools before deciding on the 8 schools where he eventually applied. You should definitely visit both Union College and BU, they were both on my son’s list of schools to where he applied. Union was actually the last college where he visited and it is at the top of his list of schools where he is patiently awaiting as to whether he has been accepted. Had he seen it earlier, he would have probably applied Early Decision. As far as BU goes, it’s a great school with lots of school spirit, lots of academic options and a great college town. My son really liked what BU had to offer and the fact that it is in Boston, close to home but not too close to home. However, he has changed his mind from wanting to go to a large university to wanting to attend a smaller liberal arts college.

Regarding food options, most colleges offer a wide variety of options for meals. You won’t go hungry. However, since BU is in Boston, there would probably be a greater variety and easier to get to with the available public transportation.

Know bean town quite well… Love the B’s and have enjoyed much of the north end munchies… I visited BU with my other child. I’m hoping to get up there this summer and catch a ball game. Sorry, it would be great to see the Yankees come in win. It’s all in the fun please go easy on the reply. Wonderful city with a good vibe and great for the youth. I’m not a MA resident but there are some good people in that city.

20 was a bit much to see. Because my son changed his mind as to what size and location of college where he wanted to attend, this resulted in the extra visits. Also, we wanted to make sure that he had the right balance of reach, match and safeties for each category. My younger son is about to start the process and I don’t believe we will visit as many schools this go around.
