First off thanks for taking the time to read this. This site is awesome.
I transferred from SUNY New Paltz to CUNY CCNY, and I’m not liking it here. It has been a pretty drastic change for me, and my stress levels have worsened. My anxiety and depression is just at an all time high, and unfortunately my grades have reflected that.
Last semester I received these markings: A, B+, C+, and C. My GPA was a 2.9 for that semester. This semester I am doing better as far as I know, but these grades for this semester wouldn’t be seen if I decided to transfer now. Previously in high school I always had an A or an A+ average in all of my years. At New Paltz my GPA was strong as well, and I made the dean’s list there.
My question is, with such a not so great GPA do you think New Paltz would take me back. I reached out to my old adviser and he told me to just re-apply, and then pick up where I left off, no audition, etc… (I’m a music and English major)
I am also looking at a private school. They’re acceptance rate is much higher, but I want to see how much they will offer me first. I have an audition with them soon. I just really miss New Paltz though, and would much rather go back there. There were so many red flags before I committed to CCNY, but I ignored them. Eventually I had a mental breakdown, and my mom told me I should stay at New Paltz… But I didn’t listen… Now I’m feeling more stressed because I feel stuck.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated. <3
