I live in Kentucky so the schools are more known for sports than anything. I don’t want to go in state for a variety of reasons, but it wouldn’t be the end of the world. UK and UofL aren’t horrible at all.

aye s/o to the two jersey kids!

I don’t know if I dislike the state or my family, so I’m trying to distance myself. Applying to TCNJ as a safety, but refuuusee to apply to the Rut because, well…

I live in Jersey too, and I reaaallllyyyy don’t want to stay in state! Everyone in my high school goes to Rutgers :> I wish I lived in NC so I could afford UNC @ CH ;-;

I’m Californian so we have some pretty good state schools. But the really good ones, UC Berkeley, UC Davis and UCLA are difficultish to get into. My local state colleges, CSU Stanislaus and UC Merced are easy to get into but they just don’t interest me at all.

I’m in Georgia.

None of the Big 3 really interest me. (UGA, GT, EMORY)

I’m in Illinois… And want to be an engineer. So obviously I would go to uiuc but I can’t afford it. And I absolutely hate the state of Illinois so I want to go out of state. So I think it will be bama for me.

I live in California so I’m lucky af… but only if I can get in.

Not many people leave the state in California, and I wouldn’t even consider going outside because of the costs involved (even though it would be cool if I had a full ride).

I’ll be attending my local college CSU Sacramento and it is really not bad at all. The engineering concentration I’m focusing on is unique to CSUS and Cal Poly Ponoma and is really really really high in demand. (EE in itself is anyways)

To all the Jersey kids: what’s so bad about Rutgers? It’s a huge party school with great sports and a huge campus. I must admit, however, that the surrounding area doesn’t look that great. I traveled on NJT to New York by train, so I witnessed the surroundings.

^ they may not want a huge party school with a big campus.

Massachusetts here. Honestly, I’d attend just about any of the UMass colleges simply because I’m extremely wary about finances. They’re not terrible schools but due to the glut of private colleges around here (BU, BC, Northeastern, MIT, Harvard, Holy Cross, Tufts, Brandeis, do I need to go on?), Amherst is the only one with any shred of credibility and even it gets a really bad rep as a party school in the state.

I also love in Georgia and would probably like UGA. Admissions is a crapshoot though due to the fact that everyone in Georgia applys and it’s really the only good option for liberal arts. Georgia Tech is great, but I’m in liberal arts and that’s mostly an engineering/mathematics/science school. Emory is amazing, but costs about the same as some out of state schools.

@prestico23 I’m highly considering UMass Amherst (I’m from New Jersey), it has a good reputation in my tiny town because one of our salutatorians went there on a full ride. Texans and Californians probably have it the best.

I feel very lucky being in NY, with the SUNY’s, CUNY’s, Columbia, Cornell, etc…

“what’s so bad about Rutgers? It’s a huge party school with great sports and a huge campus”

have you heard its nicknames? frankly I don’t want to go to a school that’s known for it’s partying or sports, and a big state school just doesn’t appeal to me. it has some really great programs and is a good affordable option, but no.

“they may not want a huge party school with a big campus.”

basically.

Rutgers is a fine school, but I personally would not want to go there. It has a bunch of fine programs but more than 75% of alumni go on to live in New Jersey for the rest of their lives and I, for one, want to get out of the state as soon as possible.

I live in Florida, and the best in state school isn’t very challenging to get into (UF). I would be fine going to school there, but I’m shooting for the Ivy League.
HS Class of 16’

I’m from Georgia…And like fellow Georgians have said: UGA, GT, and Emory are really the only fine colleges in Georgia. Georgia State is OK but I wouldn’t go there.

Emory is too expensive. GT is too focused on science/math for me. UGA is the most fitting to me and the only college I could see myself going to in Georgia.

Utah is absolutely terrible. The only colleges we have that are even worth mentioning are The U of U, BYU, and Utah State. I will not be staying in Utah for college.

I have Florida schools, so maybe UF or Miami. The tuition isn’t bad with in-state tuition and the Florida bright futures scholarship (given to anybody with a decent gpa, sat/act score, and community service hours).
