fellows?

Does anyone have news on the Fellows applications? I thought the deadline for finding out was Jan 28.
thanks

are you waiting to hear too?? If so, that makes me feel better. My DD is waiting to hear today and nothing. Do you know if we will hear either way?? Good luck!

I'm waiting too. It says that the notification will be sent today, so maybe they were mailed out today.

gee i sure hope notifications weren't snail mailed...we live in Tokyo! I just assumed that, like admissions decisions, notifications would be sent electronically at 00:01am on Jan 28.

Good luck to all.

My daughter didn't hear either and I was wondering what was up. I have no idea whether they let you know either way or only if you're accepted.

I also thought we would hear today based on the email that said January 28th, so when my daughter hadn't heard anything by late afternoon, she called the admissions office and was told they were MAILED today. They said that everyone would hear by snail mail, and that you would receive a letter either way, whether you were chosen to compete for a fellows program, or not. So that was disappointing, since we thought she would hear today. So I guess we'll hear in a few days.

No letters here in Sarasota either...a bit disappointing since they were so great about informing our d of the actual admission decision on time and on line...

Well despite what we were told on the phone yesterday, D just received an email (within the last hour) telling her she is being recommended to compete for both the honors and Elon College fellows. The email says letters will go out on January 30th. Exciting!

same here.....congratulations to your DD!

D also got the email! I'm wondering tho' she applied R decision and hasn't received notification that she has been accepted but I'm assuming that since she will compete for the Fellows that she is in...?
It says on the Elon Fellows website "If you have not already received an admissions decision through the Early Decision or Early Action deadlines, you will be notified of your admissions status at the time the Fellows invitation is extended."
The email doesn't state that she has been accepted to Elon.

dear half, i read somewhere else that receiving the invitation for fellows weekend means your child is accepted at Elon. Congratulations!

D too rec'd the email today for Communications...and really wants to attend the weekend. Coming from Japan involves 3 days of travel for 2 days of interviews, but D feels that she doesn't interview well on the phone (not that we've been given that alternative).

I hope all our kids enjoy the weekend.

She's in...I called admissions.

Congrats to all!!

Have others gotten their email? My daugther hasn't. She contacted Admissions on Monday and they said emails would come out at the end of the week and letters to follow. We are assumming now that it will be tomorrow unless...?????

its sort of weird. I called Monday to ask how students would be notified. The gal said by mail and that the letters were going out today(monday). I asked, so no email . and she said , thats right.

We live in NC so I half expected to get the letter Tuesday, didn't and then got an email-

Now its Thursday-but still no letter and we live as I say in NC

The email said that the schedule and more info would be sent Wed, Jan 30.

so maybe Friday or Saturday

this is the text of email from admissions:
We plan to release Fellows announcements by the end of this week via e-mail notification. It will also be followed by a letter in the mail. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Janell Martin '07

Admissions Counselor

d just called admissions and found out that if you were selected you got the email. The rest just get a rejection notice via snail mail. We are pretty down about it; it was very important to her.

Quote54, do you mind if I ask what Fellows program she applied for?

her first choice was honors

And she was not invited for any program? Wow.

yeah, we were very disappointed. Her essay blew me away and her grades and scores all exceed the minimum requirements. Plus she's a perfect kid for these programs and she loved the idea of being involved at that level. We were very surprised actually. But, 'thems the breaks' -- they can't take everyone and have to make some decisions and sometimes it's not going to be her! As an FYI she is already accepted at Elon and has a presidential scholarship or whatever they are called so she didn't think this was a huge stretch given her academic and leadership accomplishments.
